The built 327 has all the right parts and is dialed in to lay waste to pony-car posers but it is also an easy starting cruiser you can drive every day. The 4-speed automatic (700R4) contributes to the delicious dual personality disorder of this car: it is dependable and smooth when the mood is calm but with its 3,000 stall, full whack from a 10 MPH roll will bring the nose up immediately and burn a decent strip on the 1-2 shift - not a chirp. This bad boy gets it on and does everything a 1968 Camaro is supposed to do; look good, sound menacing and ICBMsque forward thrust. Why we chose this black '68 Camaro RS: Because it's a black 1968 Camaro RS. These don't come along that often in any condition so, finding one this good looking that drives this well, is incredibly fast and reliable too? It's a hard car to hate and possibly the best thing about it that it is not an uber-expensive trailer queen that cannot be enjoyed. It is a solid driving looker with killer wheels, shiny black paint, has a terrific interior and it's all wrapped around a bullet proof drive train. No cracked glass, the chrome looks awesome, it's knee deep in rubber and the cowl induction hood puts this 1968 Camaro RS right over the top. Viva Las Vegas Automotive Boot Camp: This Camaro has been built with an emphasis on everyday vintage muscle car enjoyment. We found a solid drive that starts every time and mashes you back into the seat every time you mash the throttle. The 700R4 automatic is easy to drive easy yet responds to the whip instantly when called upon. Low beams and the horn do not work. It does not overheat, has great road manners and the Phantom gauge set works perfectly. It's not perfect but its few minuses will take nothing away from years of classic car pleasure. What was done to this car before we got it: Quite a bit, actually. The engine was professionally built, of course and mated to a modern 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. It's been painted, re-striped, the interior gone through and new tires mounted on beautiful Chevrolet Rally wheels. Whoever brought this Camaro back to life really cared about looks and performance. You are going to love how it looks and performs. What we've done this car: We replaced the missing lower chrome molding on one front fender and replaced the "327" emblem on the driver's side. It was then treated to a lengthy detail, inside and out and an undercarriage steam cleaning followed by these spectacular pictures and a really fun HD video. This Autometer Phantom gauge set is $600 well spent and works perfectly. 327 with 2.02 heads, Edelbrock Performer Carburetor, Air Gap intake manifold, MSD ignition, Hooker Competition headers, GM Performance valve covers/air cleaner, aluminum water pump, braided steel fuel line, stainless flex hoses all add up to a screaming mouse guaranteed to put a silly grin on your face every time you light it up. Clean undercarriage showing chrome oil pan and Flowmaster exhaust with cut-outs. The Dynomax cut-outs can be uncapped for some ear-splitting, dragster performance.
