Please also keep in mind that this is a pre-owned vehicle. As with any pre-owned vehicle, minor cosmetic flaws may be visible under close inspection. 1.2. Inspect the Vehicle. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle personally or through an inspection service prior to bidding. 1.3. Be Aware That Vehicles Are Offered As Is/No Warranty Unless Stated. Unless otherwise stated in the vehicle description, the vehicle is being sold “as-is”, with no warranty. I try to accurately and fairly describe any known mechanical or cosmetic issues. However, as with any vehicle, mechanical or other failures may occur from time to time, and I cannot represent or warranty that they will not. You are responsible for any repairs made after the sale. 1.4. Mileage May Vary Slightly. I indicate the mileage of each vehicle at the time of listing. Please note that actual mileage may be slightly higher at the time of the end of the auction and/or delivery due to local test drives, detailing, etc. 2. Bidding on the Vehicle 2.1. Ready to Bid? If you’re ready to bid, great! Please keep in mind a few rules regarding bidding, which follow. 2.2. A Bid Is A Legally Binding Contract. Your bid constitutes a legally binding contract to purchase this vehicle. Please do not bid if you do not intend to, or are not financially able to, complete the purchase of the vehicle. Please have your financial arrangements in place prior to bidding. 2.3. I Don’t Allow Bidders With Negative Feedback. I do not allow bidding from bidders with negative feedback. New bidders with zero feedback should contact me prior to bidding. I reserve the right to obtain and verify the registered information of all users who bid on this auction, and to cancel any and all bids at my discretion. 2.4. I May End An Auction Early. I am a licensed Florida automobile dealer, and all of my vehicles are concurrently offered for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction without notice at any time if the vehicle is no longer available, or for any other reason in my sole discretion. Don’t let this vehicle get away! Call me now if you would like to make an offer. 3. Completing the Transaction 3.1. Contact Me. If you are the winning bidder, congratulations! You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements for the completion of the transaction. My office phone number is 239.738.4440. 3.2. Pay a Deposit. You must pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit within 24 hours after the end of the auction to secure the vehicle. Please see Section 3.4, below, for payment methods. 3.3. Pay the Balance Due. You must pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes – please see 3.5, below) within 7 days after the end of the auction. 3.4. Payment Methods. I accept cash in person (under $10,000 only), cashier’s checks, wire transfers, or commercial 3rd-party financing. I also accept PayPal for the payment of deposits only. All funds must be in US dollars. 3.5. Fees and Taxes. 3.5.1. Dealer Fee. I charge a $250 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions. 3.5.2. Sales Tax, Registration & Title Fees. 3.5.2.1. Florida Buyers. You must pay Florida's 6% sales tax plus any local option taxes applicable in your county, and I am required to collect it at the time of the sale. You are also responsible for the cost of Florida title, tag and registration fees, which I collect an estimate of at the time of sale. If the actual cost of title and registration is less than the estimate, I will refund you the difference; if the actual cost is more that the estimate, you will be required to pay the difference. I do not make any money on tax, tag, registration and title fees I collect. 3.5.2.2. Out-of-State Buyers. If you take delivery of the vehicle at my location, I am required to collect all or a portion of the sales tax applicable to motor vehicle sales in your state, i.e., I am required to collect either (i) the actual rate applicable in your state, or (ii) 6%, whichever is less. Generally, you will receive a credit in your state for sales tax collected here (Note: although the vast majority of states have a reciprocal sales tax agreement with Florida, a few do not; please check with your local tag agency.) If your state’s sales tax rate on motor vehicles is greater than 6%, I am required to collect 6% and you will be responsible for paying the difference in your state. If you have the vehicle shipped and take delivery of it outside of Florida, I do not collect sales tax. In that case, you will be responsible for paying the sales tax applicable in your state directly. In any event, you will be responsible for handling the titling and registration of the vehicle in your state and for paying all associated fees and costs. 3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which may vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially. 3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. However, if you fail to (i) make contact with me, (ii) pay the deposit, (iii) provide me with required signatures/documents, or (iv) pay the remaining balance (including applicable fees, taxes, and charges), within the timeframes set forth herein, I reserve the right to keep your deposit and re-list the vehicle or otherwise sell it as I see fit, without notice, in my sole discretion. I also reserve the right to report the issue to eBay in my sole discretion. 4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle 4.1. Completed Transaction. Your vehicle will be available for pick up or shipping once full payment is received and all other paperwork requirements of the transaction are completed. 4.2. Pick Up. I am located at 2645 NE 9th Ave in Cape Coral, Florida. I am easily accessible from US 41 and from Interstate 75. The nearest airport is Southwest Florida Int’l Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. Please contact me to make arrangements if you are planning to pick the vehicle up. I can arrange to meet you at RSW and bring you to my location. 4.3. Shipping. I will happily assist you in finding a shipping company. However, you will be responsible for all arrangements and all costs of shipping. Here’s a big 1991 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL up for sale. This is a NO RESERVE auction with a $100 opening bid. There’s no “Buy It Now” price. This car will be sold to the highest bidder. My philosophy is to give as thorough, accurate and frank a description of both the good and bad points as possible, and to show everything in pictures. I have included 70+ pictures of this car. If I have missed anything in pictures or in the description, or if anything is unclear, please ask before bidding…I will happily answer any questions.
This car is a recent trade-in. Every now and again I get a car in that’s not perfect but that I think is just a really neat car for one reason or another. This is one of them. This body style is already a classic in my opinion. The car is big and solid and still looks expensive. And it is positively regal in black with the shiny chrome wheels. I feel like a foreign dignitary driving it. It definitely gets a lot of looks in traffic. It runs and drives great. The exterior is not flawless, and the black interior is showing the effects of prolonged exposure to theFloridasun, but there’s still just something about this car that makes it neat in my opinion. So I’m offering it here instead of wholesaling it because I think some of you out there will agree with me.
The exterior of the car looks very good overall. The black paint is very shiny. It has most likely been redone. Up-close inspection reveals some blemishes in the paint, but overall it shows very well as you can see from the pictures. The small chrome inserts on both corners of the top of the rear bumper show some corrosion (pictured). The car has chrome wheels, which I believe to be a factory option, that are in great condition and look super on the car in my opinion. Overall, the car just looks big and shiny and imposing and expensive. Not perfect, but major curb appeal, in my opinion.
The interior of the car is in overall fair condition. As I mentioned at the beginning, it is showing some effects of sun exposure. Principally, the wood trim shows some general cracking, though there are no chunks of veneer missing. Also, the two front seats have seat covers on them. The seat covers are not terribly offensive (not compared to others I’ve seen) but sheepskin covers, popular on older Mercedes, would certainly look better. The original leather upholstery underneath the covers has multiple seam splits, and the center armrest is rough as well, though they certainly could be refurbished. The power seat functions work fine. The rear seat upholstery is in good condition. There is some evidence of a water leak in the area behind the driver’s seat, however. The dashboard is free from cracks and all of the door panels are in good condition as well. The radio needs to have a security code entered in order to work, which code I understand can be obtained from a Mercedes-Benz dealer with the car’s VIN number (the manuals are not present with the car). The sunroof does not work. I also observed that the fuel gauge is not accurate below 1/3 full, although the reserve light does work properly. The rest of the instruments work properly. All of the power windows work as well. The A/C works. There are no floor mats with this car. I have tried to capture every angle of the interior in pictures, so be sure to check them out.
The car has a 4.2 liter V8 engine. It runs and drives great and has good power. It doesn’t smoke at all. The transmission likewise performs perfectly. The tires appear to have lots of tread life left on them. I hear a little bit of suspension creaking when going over speedbumps and the like, but the car handles very nicely. It feels big and solid and is a pleasure to drive.

1. Before You Bid
1.1. Read the Vehicle Description and Ask Questions. Every effort is made to accurately and fairly describe the vehicles I offer. If you have a specific question or concern, please ask. Please also keep in mind that this is a pre-owned vehicle. As with any pre-owned vehicle, minor cosmetic flaws may be visible under close inspection.
1.2. Inspect the Vehicle. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle personally or through an inspection service prior to bidding.
1.3. Be Aware That Vehicles Are Offered As Is/No Warranty Unless Stated. Unless otherwise stated in the vehicle description, the vehicle is being sold “as-is”, with no warranty. I try to accurately and fairly describe any known mechanical or cosmetic issues. However, as with any vehicle, mechanical or other failures may occur from time to time, and I cannot represent or warranty that they will not. You are responsible for any repairs made after the sale.
1.4. Mileage May Vary Slightly. I indicate the mileage of each vehicle at the time of listing. Please note that actual mileage may be slightly higher at the time of the end of the auction and/or delivery due to local test drives, detailing, etc.
2. Bidding on the Vehicle
2.1. Ready to Bid? If you’re ready to bid, great! Please keep in mind a few rules regarding bidding, which follow.
2.2. A Bid Is A Legally Binding Contract. Your bid constitutes a legally binding contract to purchase this vehicle. Please do not bid if you do not intend to, or are not financially able to, complete the purchase of the vehicle. Please have your financial arrangements in place prior to bidding.
2.3. I Don’t Allow Bidders With Negative Feedback. I do not allow bidding from bidders with negative feedback. New bidders with zero feedback should contact me prior to bidding. I reserve the right to obtain and verify the registered information of all users who bid on this auction, and to cancel any and all bids at my discretion.
2.4. I May End An Auction Early. I am a licensed Florida automobile dealer, and all of my vehicles are concurrently offered for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this auction without notice at any time if the vehicle is no longer available, or for any other reason in my sole discretion. Don’t let this vehicle get away! 3. Completing the Transaction
3.1. Contact Me. If you are the winning bidder, congratulations! You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements for the completion of the transaction. My office phone number is 239.738.4440.
3.2. Pay a Deposit. You must pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit within 24 hours after the end of the auction to secure the vehicle. Please see Section 3.4, below, for payment methods.
3.3. Pay the Balance Due. You must pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes – please see 3.5, below) within 7 days after the end of the auction.
3.4. Payment Methods. I accept cash in person (under $10,000 only), cashier’s checks, wire transfers, or commercial 3rd-party financing. I also accept PayPal for the payment of deposits only. All funds must be in US dollars.
3.5. Fees and Taxes.
3.5.1. Dealer Fee. I charge a $250 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions.
3.5.2. Sales Tax, Registration & Title Fees.
3.5.2.1. Florida Buyers. You must pay Florida's 6% sales tax plus any local option taxes applicable in your county, and I am required to collect it at the time of the sale. You are also responsible for the cost of Florida title, tag and registration fees, which I collect an estimate of at the time of sale. If the actual cost of title and registration is less than the estimate, I will refund you the difference; if the actual cost is more that the estimate, you will be required to pay the difference. I do not make any money on tax, tag, registration and title fees I collect.
3.5.2.2. Out-of-State Buyers. If you take delivery of the vehicle at my location, I am required to collect all or a portion of the sales tax applicable to motor vehicle sales in your state, i.e., I am required to collect either (i) the actual rate applicable in your state, or (ii) 6%, whichever is less. Generally, you will receive a credit in your state for sales tax collected here (Note: although the vast majority of states have a reciprocal sales tax agreement with Florida, a few do not; please check with your local tag agency.) If your state’s sales tax rate on motor vehicles is greater than 6%, I am required to collect 6% and you will be responsible for paying the difference in your state. If you have the vehicle shipped and take delivery of it outside of Florida, I do not collect sales tax. In that case, you will be responsible for paying the sales tax applicable in your state directly. In any event, you will be responsible for handling the titling and registration of the vehicle in your state and for paying all associated fees and costs.
3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which may vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially.
3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. However, if you fail to (i) make contact with me, (ii) pay the deposit, (iii) provide me with required signatures/documents, or (iv) pay the remaining balance (including applicable fees, taxes, and charges), within the timeframes set forth herein, I reserve the right to keep your deposit and re-list the vehicle or otherwise sell it as I see fit, without notice, in my sole discretion. I also reserve the right to report the issue to eBay in my sole discretion.
4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle
4.1. Completed Transaction. Your vehicle will be available for pick up or shipping once full payment is received and all other paperwork requirements of the transaction are completed.
4.2. Pick Up. I am located at 2645 NE 9th Ave in Cape Coral, Florida. I am easily accessible from US 41 and from Interstate 75. The nearest airport is Southwest Florida Int’l Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers. Please contact me to make arrangements if you are planning to pick the vehicle up. I can arrange to meet you at RSW and bring you to my location.
4.3. Shipping. I will happily assist you in finding a shipping company. However, you will be responsible for all arrangements and all costs of shipping. I assume no responsibility for damage to the vehicle incurred after it leaves my premises.
