Vehicle Detail

RARE RED OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS 442 WITH LOW PRODUCTION 403 ENGINE, NUMBERS MATCHING NOTE, PICTURES WERE TAKEN WITHOUT CLEANING THE CAR ALL WINTER, I WANTED TO SHOW WHAT THIS REALLY LOOKS LIKE... BODY, UNDER HOOD AND INTERIOR. This is my car I have owned for the last three years. It was my intention to completely restore this a use it as a fun driver. I moved to Florida and this has stayed in Chicago. My first 442 was a factory ordered 1975, red with white stripes, always want to keep the memories. I love his car, I love the lines and the look is so 1970's retro! It does need some work, nothing major, but what it does need is not costly at all. The good news is this is a very solid body and the car not only runs strong, it rides super nice. I love this car and wish I could afford to finish the work. The car has the very desirable Red exterior with red interior. It has W29 442 appearance package. Bucket seats that are not swivel and clock in dash (I do not think clock works as of now) Ralley Wheels and dual sport mirrors. We added a CD system with new speakers, I do not have the original Delco AM/FM radio, I lost it in the move? Ralley wheel as spare in trunk. You have a strong straight body to work with; I love the color of this car, much nicer than the 1976 red. Frm a distance, the paint looks nice. It does have two issues, both running down from the back windows on to the rear quarters....not bad but the paint is chipping off and either needs to be blended with new paint, or shoot the whole car. There is no major rust to speak of at all. The body is solid, very solid. Many of the spots along the wheel wells and lower part of the car that usually rust have not. The windshiled has a slight hairline crack, only cost about $240 to replace but does not need to be anytime soon unless you want to. The trunk is solid, I see no damage from rust at all. Bumpers are not bad at all, we cleaned them up and they shine really nice. Ralley wheels are good. The hood in picture is off alignment a little, that is just a minor fix to adjust. The car is in Wheeling, IL, 60090. It needs to be picked up from there. It is at the mechanics and he just wants the winning bidder to give him notice when that will be. He will also do the mechanical work if you want. He is a great mechanic and nows how to work on classic cars as he is been in business for 40 years. It was his intention to do the work slowly over the winter, but between the snow and me moving to Florida he basically became the caretaker. He told me he could complete all the work in 2-3 days and have the car running like brand new. The mechanics; First and foremost, this has a very rare, very low production 403 big bock engine...the replacement for the 455. I have driven this car many times, it runs as strong as any late model 455, I get the tires to burn rubber and it has real power. Numbers matching and all original. I am not a mechanic, not even close but the car has been at ours since I left Chicago last year. He is holding it for me as a favor and has taken good care of it. When I went back last week to take pictures, he told me that this car has started anytime he has asked it too and is always amazed at how nice it runs. As strong as it is, It does need an air conditioning system put back in, I have a new one in the box that will come with the car. It does need a power steering pump, I have a rebuilt one that will come with the car. You need to replace heater core, I have a new one for the car that comes with it. There are some other minor parts that are in the trunk as well. If I was going to completely restore the car, I would pull the engine, tune it and clean it up then paint the engine compartment, it would look show room new for not a big investment. Interior; You are going to need to replace the carpeting ($200) and new seat coverings for buckets (not swivel). I have sound proofing for under carpet that goes with the car. You do not have to replace back seat covering if you do not want to, it is pretty nice. You will need a new rear deck as well, headliner is nice. The dash is incredibly flat..it does have four cracks, but they do not effect the appearance. The glove box will need a new lock. The console is nice, no problems at all. This is all a very inexpensive fix and all you would need to do to increase the value by thousands of dollars. SEE MY T-TOPS I AM SELLING THIS WEEK FOR 73-77 442
