1974 BMW 2002 automatic. I bought this car about a year ago from a local professional. He had a carburetor problem, towed the car to his mechanic's shop, and decided not to repair it when he received the estimate. I spoke to the mechanic, was assured it ran well before the carb problem, so I bought it. The radiator was replaced at some point shortly before I bought the car. Since then, I have dealt with a series of fuel related problems which I have finally sorted out. I replaced the carb with a new Weber 32/36 down draft two barrel carb. I continued to experience stalling problems, so we replaced all rubber fuel lines and added new in-line filters. I continued to have problems stalling, so we replaced the fuel pump. I continued to have stalling problems, so we removed the tank, had it disassembles, blasted, coated, painted, and replaced. This repair alone cost around $900.00. I continued to have problems, which were finally solved by carburetor adjustment and linkage repairs. While dealing with the fuel problems, I also had the original Behr a/c system serviced, and it blows cold. The taillight wiring was also repaired, and the driver's trunk hinge replaced. All work has been professionally done, and I have receipts. The interior is complete, but very dirty. Seats will need to be recovered and carpet replaced. Has original steel rims, and tires are in excellent shape. When it was in the shop last I was told the front brakes need to be replaced, but it runs, drives, and stops fine as it is. I will not guarantee that the car will complete a long road trip home, so plan accordingly. The odometer has approximately 83,000 miles showing, but it has not worked the entire time I've owned the car, so actual mileage is unknown. Car has some rust at bottom of rear windshield, left front framerail, and passenger rear floorpan. Also some small rust holes in door panel bottoms, and front hood, all of which are shown in attached photos. The shock mounts and rear strut mounts are rock solid, and are also depicted in the photos. I've put more than $2,000.00 into the repairs, it's running fine now, and it's time for someone else to step in and take this project forward. I have a clear Florida title for this car.
