DESERT AUTOSPORT IS VERY PLEASED TO BRING TO THE MARKETPLACE THIS 1965 CHEVROLET CORVETTE 327/365 HORSEPOWER COUPE. TO START WITH WE TOOK THIS CAR IN ON TRADE FROM THE SAME OWNER SINCE 1977. WHEN HE PURCHASED THE CAR IT HAD A 396 MOTOR IN IT AND HAD THE ORIGINAL MOTOR WITH IT. IN THE LATE 70'S WHEN THE FUEL CRUNCH HIT THE BIG BLOCK WAS REMOVED AND THE ORIGINAL MOTOR WAS REINSTALLED. THE CAR WAS DRIVEN OCCASIONALLY UNTIL THE MID 1980'S AND PARKED IN A GARAGE UNDER A COVER AND THERE IT SAT UNTIL 2010. WHEN WE RECEIVED THE CAR THE FIRST THING WE DID WAS REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE CALIPERS, REPLACED THE FUEL TANK AND REBUILT THE CARBURATOR. THE CORVETTE FIRED RIGHT UP AND PURRED LIKE A KITTEN!! NOTHING SOUNDS AS GOOD AS A SOLID LIFTER CORVETTE THROUGH SIDEPIPES. WE REPLACED THE OVERSIZE RALLY WHEELS WITH BRAND NEW CORRECT STEEL WHEELS, NEW TIRES AND NEW CORRECT WHEEL COVERS. IT WAS ORIGINALLY A GLEN GREEN CAR BUT REPAINTED BLUE SOMETIME IN THE 1970'S. WE HAD THE ORIGINAL NO HIT BODY REPAINTED NASSAU BLUE AND IT CAME OUT AWESOME AND LOOKS STUNNING FROM EVERY ANGLE. WE REPLACED ALL THE WEATHERSTRIPPING AS WELL AND SINCE IT HAD ALL THE EMBLEMS FOR A 396 AND A 396 HOOD WE DECIDED TO KEEP IT LOOKING LIKE A BIG BLOCK COSMETICALLY. ON THE INTERIOR WE RECOVERED THE SEATS AND REPLACED THE CARPETING. SINCE ALL THE GAUGES, RADIO AND LIGHTS WORKED WE LEFT THE REST OF THE INTERIOR ALONE. THE CAR STILL EVEN HAS ALL THE ORIGINAL T3 LIGHTS IN IT AND THEY ALL WORK!!! UNDER THE HOOD THE ORIGINAL #'S MATCHING 365 HORSEPOWER MOTOR RUNS PERFECT AND ALL WE HAD TO DO WAS REPLACE ALL THE MISSING IGNITION SHIELDING, HEAT SHIELDS AND AIR CLEANER WHICH IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND THE 365 HORSEPOWER MOTOR HAS UNIQUE PARTS AND WE GOT THEM ALL. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GREAT AND IS NOT THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION TO THE CAR AND DECODES TO A 1969 MUNCIE M20 OR M21. IT HAS AN EARLY ONE PIECE HURST SHIFTER AND WE TRIED TO REPLACE THE HANDLE WITH A CORRECT ONE BUT WERE UNABLE TO. THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR IS PERFECTLY SOLID WITH NO ISSUE'S OF ANY KIND AND THIS CAR HAS BEEN IN A DRY GARAGE THE MAJORITY OF IT'S LIFE. THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER WAS MISSING SO WE REPLACED THAT AS WELL. OVER THE PAST YEAR WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS CAR, IT HAS KEPT TURNING OUT SO NICE THAT WE CONTINUED TO INVEST THE TIME AND MONEY TO HAVE IT TURN INTO THE CAR YOU SEE HERE IN THE PICTURES!!! THIS IS NOT ONLY A GREAT DRIVER/SHOWCAR FOR SOMEONE BUT A VERY COLLECTIBLE CAR. 1965 IS A VERY DESIRABLE YEAR AND THE 365 HORSEPOWER #'S MATCHING MOTOR MAKES IT THAT MUCH MORE DESIRABLE.
