This 1985 Toyota Celica GTS Convertible was taken in as partial trade for one of my personal autos. Research shows this is a 1st GENERATION convertible which is 1 of less than 500 having the combination of 1) original manufactured rear glass window WITH defrost 2) automatic ragtop 3) 5 speed manual transmission This vehicle sold new in 1985 for $17,669. Current NADA CLASSIC car guide shows AVERAGE VALUE $3875. We drove the car, did an inspection, and found the following: Mechanical: The car does run but could use a tune up as it runs a bit rough, but does not smoke at all. Possible suspension work needed, 5 speed transmission works good, Power windows work with exception of 1 rear driver side glass...it works but stubborn. All dash gauges work. Pop-Up's work, but headlights will come on only if you jump the relay, so we believe the switch needs replaced. Exterior: Body is very solid and in great shape, but does have a couple areas of surface rust around antenna and some trim. Cooper tires are matching with factory set of aluminum rims, with good tread. Ragtop is in pretty decent condition with a few blemishes on exterior where framework meets, but does not seem to leak. There is no glass breakage on any window or glass, and all taillight/parking lights are in tact. Interior: Good condition, but does show wear on driver seat. Found a small hole in front driver seat and one small in rear seat. Dash is very nice and has no cracks. This car does have a clean, clear Ohio title. Odometer shows 170K. We did note that the existing ragtop has the plastic back window in place, but we have the original glass one to put back in it.
