1974 Dodge Challenger Numbers Matching 360 4BBL, Pistol-Grip 4spd, 8 & 3/4, WOW - a real timepiece that runs excellent! Phenomenal custom paint-work was done in 1979 and looks fantastic 32yrs later! The quality on this paint is stunning and has held up over these years extremely well. It is a Lacquer paint job with many fades and layers. To duplicate this paintjob today would most likely cost around $8000+. The paint is the first thing you notice and quite the conversation topic, but beyond that - it is an all-ORIGINAL 360hp, Pistol-grip 4 spd car. 1974 didn't have many performance cars rolling off the line, but this is one that made it thru. While most Challengers were 318's at this point, this Challenger got the H.P. 360 4BBL and RARE pistol-grip 4spd for '74. This is an UNRESTORED ORIGINAL. The paint was done in '79 with white seats and door panels, a mild cam was added in the 80's and hood pins were added just recently. The remainder of the Challenger was untouched and unmolested - a TRUE SURVIVOR. The 360 motor has mild cam and has a nice lopey idle and screams under load. The clutch has less than 600 miles on it, the 4spd shifts beautifully! The suspension is very very tight and rides extremely nice - does NOT rattle & squeak like most old cars. Goes down the road straight and stops great. Power steering, power Disc brakes. Air shocks were added in the 80's and work as new. New wheels and tires added recently - Cragar Street Stars 15x8 rear, 15x7 front - tires are Mopar-friendly Raised-white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A's - 295/50/15 in rear & 235/60/15 in front - near brand new - less than 1000 miles on them! Some updates to the engine bay: Hooker Super Competition ceramic coated headers, 8mm wires, Mopar Performance valve covers, MSD Blaster 3 ignition coil, chrome alternator, period Offenhauser intake, Holley 750 dual-feed carb. Everything works on the Challenger! All lights, fog lamps, turn signals, fender turn signals, reverse indicator light, ALL GAUGES (yes, tach works great & is accurate!), a cassette player was added in the 80's but the opening was not compromised, wipers work, air works, etc etc! The interior is in EXCELLENT shape - seats are near perfect (no rips, tears or seams coming apart), door panels show some wear, carpet is in GREAT shape, dashpad is EXCELLENT, 4spd console is GREAT, headliner is perfect, woodgrain inserts are great, emblems very good....the interior is in such AMAZING survivor condition - show and go as unrestored! The trunk and extensions have ZERO rust, the frame is EXCELLENT, floorpans still have factory undercoating on them! The body is solid as a rock and has not been touched since the custom paintwork in '79. The body has a scratch near the right rear sidemarker light (see pic) and a few cracks in paint on the front part of the hood, has some very light repairable rust on the very bottoms of the qtrs behind the rear wheels and some on the front of the pass rear wheel (see pics) - spot-in and go, some paint chipped off near the side vents on the DR side. It has held up incredibly well for not even being freshened up in 32+ yrs. The paint is still stunning - the finish is in GREAT shape- (yes, you can wax & shine! - NOT faded in any way). The red is a bit darker shade than Rallye Red and the other colors in the fade and graphics appear to be Chrysler-based (tawny gold, sherwood green, chestnut/irid, ivory). The chrome bumpers are in very good shape - not perfect, but shine well and are great driver/survivor quality. The front has a couple dimples and the rear is in great shape - the bumper guards were removed. The valance panels front and rear are in great shape, exhaust tips are in excellent shape and CORRECT, grille is perfect, grille trim/headlight bezels are awesome, very RARE front chin spoilers (see front pics) look menacing! The chrome rocker mouldings are missing (tabs are still intact). All the brightwork (chrome & stainless trim) is straight and finish is in great shape! Tailpanel and grille bezels are correct dark-argent & original, the filler panels front and rear are there and in great shape! The white vinyl top is original and in near mint condition - no rips, tears,stains, fading....Armor-All & go! There are a few tiny little bubbles under the top on the passenger lower side (drip-rail). This is a 2-fender tag Challenger!!
