NO RESERVE! HIGH BIDDER OWNS IT! Up for auction is this 1989 Ford Mustang LX with the 5.0 V-8. this is a nice survivor in good overall condition. It was owned by my father-in-law who was a pretty good Ford mechanic, he took good care of the drive train and it was garaged the entire 12 years he owned it. This was the 25th year Anniversary of the Mustang so it is a collectors item and it's value will go up. It will not take to much work to make it Cherry. It is mostly all original except the custom exhaust (it roars like a race car). Has a 5 speed manual tranny so it gets good mileage if you can resist the urge to let her roar!Here is the good: Strong running engine with no strange noises. Tranny, clutch, and everything in the drive train works as it should. Newer cat back dual exhaust system, new water pump, always serviced when it should be. Air, heat, cruise, power windows & doors all work.Starts up instantly and runs (roars) to life, idles nicely. Very clean almost rust free underside.Tires have about 35% tread left on the front and 25% on the rears.There is a new set of front springs that he never got around to installing, goes with the car. Both of the previous owners were in the family and most of the miles were put on driving back and forth from Wisconsin to Arkansas where it spent some of it's time, most winters were spent in the garage.The not so Good: The alternator seems to have a leaky diode that drains the battery after a few hours of sitting. It should be rebuilt or replaced but it still seams to charge when running O.K. (around $80.00).The left front header doughnut gasket leaks a little exhaust.The rear hatch latch is missing and needs to be replaced.The passengers outside door handle is broken (still opens from the inside).Drivers door hinge needs new bushings (sags a bit but still closes O.K.).Has two rust bubbles on the drivers door (no holes) and some rust on the bottom of the rear hatch lid (one hole with silver tape on it).Shimmy felt at high speeds on the freeway (most likely a tire out of balance?)Drivers door speaker cover is missing.Front seats and carpet have stains. Radio works but the left front speaker is noisy.All I can think of right now. Please closely examine the pictures and ask questions before bidding.Will this car make it across the country? I don't know! My crystal ball is broken. It is 22 years old. I would trailer it to be safe or at least bring a rebuilt alternator with you. If your fairly close you can drive it home. This car is a handful, it is very light weight and powerful. Not recommended for the faint of heart, smaller or weaker driver. You should be mechanically inclined and know how to handle a muscle car.OK now for this stuff.This car is used and 22 years old and as such there is no warranty, I have described it to the best of my ability and tried to describe all the good and bad things but if I missed something or something dies after it leaves my location at that point it is your car and I will not give any refunds or buy you any parts.
