Vehicle Detail
I just purchased this extremely nice (rare white) 1999 Porsche Carrera 2. I bought the car knowing that the car had an intermix problem with the engine. More than likely it's a head gasket failure or a crack in one of the heads itself. I purchased a 2000 Boxster S with the exact same issue (turned out to be a crack in the head) and had it fixed for about $2500 including an IMS upgrade and a new clutch. This work was done outside of a "Porsche Shop" so if you plan on taking the car to a true Porsche mechanic you can expect to pay a bit more. The car is immaculate inside and out and has no damage history. Everything works and the tires are in good shape. 96,000 miles is about average for a car of this age. The body/paint and interior are well above average. If you need specific pictures, you can email me and I will send them to you directly. I bought this car planning on making the repairs myself and keeping the car for a couple of years....possibly turning it into a track/race car at a later date. Unfortunately the gentleman that sold it to me out of state failed to mention it was a tiptronic (auto) transmission. YES I KNOW I SHOULD HAVE ASKED but simply assumed. The tiptronic is highly desirable for some buyers and actually brings more money in the market place, but for me I have no desire to have an automatic 911....kind of sac-religious if you want to know my honest opinion. I have found another car I can buy and want to move the car quickly so I can use the funds to purchase it. If I had the time and money, I would fix the car myself and make a nice profit it on it. The bidding is starting at $8000 which is a steal and I don't expect it to stay there long. I have a buy it now price of $12,600 and will honor it up to the time the bidding surpasses it.....I expect that to happen as well. I have it for sale locally and RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION IF I SALE THE CAR. At $12,600 you are getting a bargain. The car runs and drives but there is coolant in the oil which indicates a problem. I could sell the car without disclosing the problem and you would be able to drive the car for few hundred miles and then it could possibly have a complete failure. I believe in karma and am letting all bidders know of the problem and what I believe the fix is. Nothing more nothing less. Some people say you can run a can of "Stop Leak" through the engine and seal the crack. Maybe this would work, but remember you are buying and driving a Porsche, not a Camaro. Fix it right and you will enjoy this car for many years.
