Vehicle Detail

I have for your consideration a very low mileage 1976 goldwing. This motorcycle has to be one of the best of the remaining 500 which were sold in 1976. This is the most collectable of the early wings with the exception of the limited edition which was sold I believe in the same year. Here's the story and I'll be as brief as possible because there isn't a lot to say. I bought this motorcycle last year from the second owner and paid $5500 for it. I was told it was perfect. It certainly looked so on the information which the owner provided me. HOWEVER when I received the motorcycle it had some pitting on the chrome. Mechanically the previous owner had done right by the motorcycle and it was completely right in all those respects. The only thing I did mechanically on the bike was to change the timing belts because he wasn't certain that had been done. The motorcycle starts, runs stops and performs exactly as it should. When I received the motorcycle it had 1700 miles on it. So??? I am extremely fussy and I went to the the expense to have all of the chrome redone. I spent a bunch to do. The paint was perfect and I just felt it deserved to be done. Tell you what though it is better then new chrome. The second owner did the usual carbs, brakes and tires batteries and all necessary mechanicals. He put a lot of money in the bike as well. He didn't tell me a number but he did say it was well in excess of the amount I paid him. I don't doubt that. So bottom line I have in excess of $9500 in this motorcycle. Why am I selling? I just bought a new 2010 yellow goldwing and the wife says I have too many motorcycles and only one butt. (I thought that was really funny) Honestly I just don't want to keep the bike and have to worry about it and it really should be in the hands of some one who will enjoy it. (Plus I am 64 years of age and i I have no one in the family who is at all interested) You should note a couple things from the pictures. This bike has some additional period correct pieces which a lot of the similar bikes listed on eBay do not. It has hard Shoei bags, a faring (not sure who made but it's not a Vetter) plus the sissy bar and luggage carrier. So you have a mechanically perfect and a nearly perfect cosmetic bike to consider. Plus the additional items and the rare yellow color. The only cosmetic issue is the paint on the engine shows a little age. It's a solid 90% but if you wanted it perfect it would require pulling the engine out of the frame and repainting. Just not worth the trouble to me and remember I am fussy. THE NEGATIVES. It is not completely original because the chrome was redone and the previous owner painted the bottom of the front forks to match the rest of the yellow paint. I also added a couple of chrome bits which could be removed it desired. On this year bike they did not have the chrome heat shields for the the exhaust manifolds or the chrome engine mounts. You can remove if desired. In my opinion the things I have listed as negatives are actually pluses but you would have to decide what you think. Some of this added chrome may not show on all the pictures because they were taken at different times. I just thought the added chrome really made the bike look a lot nicer. Anyways this is a very very nice bike. I can't absolutely prove the mileage but having owned the bike for a year and having ridden it and partial disassembled it to have the chrome replated I believe the mileage is correct but I do not have a paper trail. Just to be completely up front. I believe from the condition of the instruments, the original seat and the exhaust headers and the exhaust pipes that this motorcycle is in fact original with only 2500 miles. The seat shown on most of the pictures is a Corbin gun fighter seat. Lots of extra's with this bike plus the yellow color. Price? $5000 if it doesn't sell at this number I will keep it. You know this eBay stuff comes now to a certain amount of trust and cooperation. I will assist you in anyway I can with the shipping and purchase. I would MORE then welcome inspections by any interested party. If you have a third party who is willing to inspect the bike for you that's also fine. I expect payment before the bike is delivered to the new owner and I will take any form of payment typically used in these transactions. I will NOT release until any check has cleared my bank so perhaps a wire transfer can be done? We can negotiate that once it's sold.
