Vehicle Detail

This is a Canadian documented 1969 Camaro Z/28. A full, frame-off restoration was completed in the Spring of 2009. Less than 500 carefully driven street miles are on the body and the fresh motor. In that time, I've changed the oil twice (I use Brad Penn 20/50 - super high Zinc content - I'll include a case with the car) and adjusted the valves once. The car has never seen a drop of rain and is covered even in the garage (I'll include the cover with the sale). No expense was spared to make this car perfect. A combination of original, NOS, and, where needed, high-quality reproduction parts were used to bring this car back to perfection. The drivetrain is an accurate reproduction of what the car left the factory with in 1969 but it is not the "born with" components. So, it runs and sounds just like it should and you don't have to worry about blowing up your $100k car! The engine is a 302 with authentic 1178 crank (see photos), forged 11-1 pistons, date-correct 186 double hump heads, winters intake, 30/30 solid lift cam (.485 lift, 254 duration @ .050), correct distributor, etc. Under hood details are very correct - valve covers, deep groove pulleys, 8" balancer, timing cover with welded tab, correct water pump pulley, engine lift hooks, exhaust manifolds, smog system, fuel pump, original radiator, correct clutch fan, alternator, rebuilt horns, etc. The only mechanical change from original is I swapped out the points for a pertronix unit and I am running a Holley 750 double pumper. Never fear, I'm including an original DZ carb with the car (see photos). Honestly, I just think it runs much better with the mechanical secondaries. The car came with an M-20 wide ratio trans and that's what is in it now - though freshly rebuilt. I know people all talk about the close ratio units but I've owned both and I'll tell you this - in these Z's with the high-revving but not-so-torquey 302's - the M-20 with its low first gear gets the car moving a lot better. The trans mates to the engine via the correct bell housing and a new clutch. The car of course has a fresh 12 bolt with 4.11 gears sitting on 5-spring leaf springs. Interior is black standard, correct tach, gauge package, etc. One interesting thing is that this car was a "radio delete" car - it rolled from the factory with no tunes and that's how you see it. It has new date-coded glass in all but the rear window - that's believed to be OEM. The paint is great - really rich, shiny fathom green with correctly spaced and applied stripes. The paint is not "flawless" - but almost so - it is very much like what you would see brand new from the factory in 1969 (better, actually). The grill is argent silver, as it should be on a Z. Note the properly detailed trunk with stickers, jack, tire and just the right amount of coating overspray. No, the car did not come with the cowl hood (only about 2,000 out of 20,000 did) but it looks cool so there it is. Tires are also authentic reproduction rolling stock. It would handle and ride so much better with some modern radials - but original looking was the goal. I have taken a ton of pictures from the underside of the car just so you can see how spotless it is. There is just a tiny bit of light surface corrosion on the leaf springs but nothing to worry about - pretty normal stuff. Also, you'll see some oil splatter on the left exhaust pipe, etc. - that was from the last oil change - thought I could make do without a funnel. Everything works - interior lighting, key buzzer, reverse lock-out and lights, all signals, horn, speedo., etc. I am also including scanned copies of the GM paperwork (you can obtain this yourself direct from GM of Canada). I know everyone on eBay is an expert on these cars. I'm not. I had a 1969 Camaro for my first car and I just think they are cool. There are 90+ pictures here and I've done my best to describe this car accurately but only you (and the other experts on eBay) can decide what's its worth, etc. No representations or warranties offered by me. I am based in Newtown, PA - 40 minutes due North of Philly. You can certainly make an appointment to come see the car, if you like. Happy bidding - its a great looking car!On Apr-26-11 at 07:59:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had a couple of questions about the Canadian documentation. Here is the deal - unlike the U.S., GM of Canada kept detailed records of all the cars imported to Canada by VIN number. The VIN is the only legally recognized way to identify a car. In the U.S., we have to struggle with trim tags and hope there is some original paperwork or maybe an authentic protecto-plate. Not so in Canada - you can access the records on this car yourself - DIRECTLY FROM GM. No external party or provider - again, this is direct from GM. No way to forge it, duplicate it or fake it. Hope this helps!
