Vehicle Detail
Rare 1966 Volvo P1800 coupe. I bought this car three years ago and drove it daily until about a year ago. I used it to commute to work and only put a few thousand miles on it. This car needs some work, but it's a very solid base and everything that needs done can easily be done by a shade tree mechanic. This is a very stylish car that will make an easy and satisfying project for the right person! Exterior:Most of the chrome is in good shape with some pitting, but all the chrome is there, including the hard to find trim pieces. There is a medium sized dent (about the size of your hand, see photo) in the front drivers side quater near the wheel well. The paint looks good from twenty feet, but has some cracking in the doors. There is some rust here and there and some bubbling in the lower read quarters. Suspension:After purchasing the car, I upgraded the suspension with sport springs and Bilstein shocks as well as replacing the front bearings. This really improved the handling and looks of the car. I have a new set of polyurethane bushings that will be included with the car, but the bushings on the car are good shape and the suspension is not sloppy.I put new tires on the car when I purchased it, and they are still in great shape. Transmission:This car has an electric overdrive and 4 speed manual transmission. The synchros for 2nd and 3rd gear need replacing. Engine:Engine is in good shape.Has been upgraded to electronic ignition.New starter.Dual SU carbsRun cool. Interior:The interior is in excellent shape! There is no cracking on the dash. All the gauges are in great cosmetic condition and working, but are in need of calibration or mechanical reconditioning. The seats have been swapped out for safer 1977 seats with the high head rests. The car hasn't been driven for a while, but it starts and idles well. I took it for a quick spin around the neighborhood and I'd give it a tune-up before taking it too far, as it misfires occasionally. The car also comes with quite a few misc spare parts collected over the years. Though it was a daily driver when I stopped driving it, I would not recommend it as a daily driver at the moment until you have time to tune it up properly. I'd be happy to answer any questions! Thanks for looking at this great little car!
