Vehicle Detail

I purchased this very nice 1958 Old English white MGA roadster in January of 2006. It had been owned locally in NE Tennessee for approximately 10 years previous to my ownership. Prior to that I have no information other than the previous owner bought it in Virginia. I was told by the PO that in the mid 90's it had undergone a restoration (not frame-off), including engine rebuild, new paint, upholstery, tires, tonneau and cloth top. The odometer currently shows 8,800 miles which I believe to be the mileage since that restoration. I have averaged about 800 miles per year since acquiring the car. The car looks, runs and drives great. I drive it at least weekly, weather permitting. Since I've owned it, it has always been garaged and never driven in the rain. While the car is not a concours show car, it is in very good condition. I have observed no rust issues other than the battery holders, which are still quite serviceable. The car has the 1500cc engine, but I do not know whether it is the original engine that came in the car. (Engine tag is missing, plus there is no record at the British Heritage Motor Centre of the original engine number.) Mechanically, the car burns no measurable oil, maintains good oil pressure and does not overheat. It drips only minimal oil for a British car of this era. The engine sounds great with no unusual noises. Since I've owned the car, I've had the carbs rebuilt, rebuilt the brakes, changed to a spin-on oil filter, added lap seat belts, added an oil cooler, replaced the hoses, fan belt, points and plugs and numerous other items that needed tidying up. The panels on the car align reasonably well for the model and I've observed no indication of any past body damage other than a dent having been repaired on the left front fender. I nearly as I can tell, virtually no body filler has ever been used on the car. The paint finish is still reasonably good but has some chips and touch-ups. The top, tires and tonneau, and side windows are still in good condition, although the tires are 15 or so years old now. The only things I know of that do not work are the gas gauge which always registers 3/16, the trip mileage indicator does not work, and the park feature on the wipers does not work, (Wipers work, but I've never used them.) Car has a great heater, but no radio. I am including with the sale the Drivers Manual, Workshop Manual, "Original MGA" book, and the Heritage Centre certificate, along with all records and invoices since I have owned the car. I regret to sell the car, but have new projects that need garage space and my time and attention. Serious bidders may call me at 423-914-1004 with questions or to arrange to see the car.
