Delivered New & Always in California - Totally Clean Car Fax Finished in Classic "Verde Inglese" (British Green) & Tan Leather / Suede Interior One of Fewer Than 2,000~ Cars Produced! _____________________________ NOTE: Our listings sometimes get rather lengthy. However, we continually hear from out of state / out of country buyers (the majority of our clients) that they prefer the level of detail that we provide. However, if you are not prepared to read multiple pages of description, we recommend that you review the "Specifications" on the car along with viewing the photos. Also, if you'd prefer, please call us at 925-846-1451 and we'll gladly discuss the Alfa Romeo and answer any questions over the telephone, including about our Buy it now policies. Yes, the Alfa can be purchased prior to the end of the eBay auction. Again, give us a call for details. For those that have an interest in an Executive Summary (as opposed to reviewing the extensive details in this listing), the following summarizes the features of this 1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Convertible. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: EACH TIME WE LIST A VEHICLE ON EBAY WE RECEIVE COMMENTS THAT THERE ARE NO PHOTOS OF THE INTERIOR, ENGINE, UNDERCARRIAGE, ETC. OF THE CAR. THERE ARE 100 PHOTOS OF ALL AREAS OF THE CAR BUT, WHEN YOU REACH WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE LAST PHOTO, YOU WILL NEED TO SCROLL TO VIEW THE REMAINING PHOTOS. IF YOU ARE STILL UNABLE TO SEE THE PHOTOS, PLEASE CALL US AT 925-846-1451 AND WE WILL PROVIDE A LINK FOR THE PHOTOS (IT IS A VIOLATION OF EBAY POLICY TO LIST THE URL ON THE EBAY LISTING). Finally, we ask that you take into account a few important considerations when you evaluate doing bisness with Classic Cars Ltd. (or other eBay sellers): Specifically: * We don't feel the need to highlight exotic models/women in our auctions but, instead, focus on the features of our collectible and specialty vehicles. * We have maintained a "brick and mortar" showroom for close to 20 years in the same location and enjoy a positive local and worldwide reputation. We have been established in the community for over 30 years. * We don't sell out of our house or warehouse, have all of the proper California licenses and bonds, and are in compliance with California requirements for selling collectore cars. We beleive that this is essential in order to provide customers with the security that they deserve. * We enjoy 100% positive feedback on over 600 transactions (not just a handful of sales) along with positive feedback on a number of independent Websites across the country. * We do not perform low quality, quick turnaround "cover-up" "restorations on cars but typically offer collector cars from known souces that are documented and high quality. Most of our cars are local and have been in California since new. * Provide a high level of details, photographs (including engine, underside and all other areas) so that buyers can make an informed buying decision. Alfa Romeo floor mats & trim ABOUT THE ALFA ROMEO SPIDER VELOCE The Alfa Romeo Spider was introduced at the 1966 Geneva Motor show, receiving rave reviews. The car was designed by Battista Pininfarina, founder of the Turin based design house, and designer of a wide range of Italian exotic automobiles. Over the years, numerous changes were made to the car, and the styling remained very pleasing even in light of increased requirements for stronger bumpers, and safety equipment. The mid-1980's brought the square tailed cars with front chin spoilers, subtle rear trunk lip spoilers and larger side view mirrors. Unlike some of the other European sports cars, the lines of the Alfa matured very gracefully, until the end of the production of the Alfa Spider in 1993. Early Alfa Spider's were equipped with 1600 twin cam engines which were later increased in size to two-liter, fuel injected versions. The larger, current engines, proved to be very reliable, and offered excellent drivability, torque, and good overall performance for a small convertible. This particular 1993 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce is equipped with the considerably more desirable features including the following: * 2.0 Liter (1962cc) Twin Overhead Cam Engine * Fuel Injected Engine * 5-Speed, Fully Synchronized Transmission * Electronic Ignition * Independent Front Suspension * Front Anti Sway Bar * Power Assisted 4-Wheel Disc Brakes * Steel Belted Radial Tires * Air Conditioning * Power Windows * Beautiful Black Leather Interior * Adjustable Head Rests * Electronic Tachometer * Water Temperature, Oil Pressure & Voltmeter Gauges * Padded 4 Spoke Sport Steering Wheel * Driver's Side Air Bag * 2 Speed Electronic Washer/Wipers * Dual Side View Mirrors * 50 State Version - Catalyst System * Locking Vent Windows * Day/Night Rear View Mirror * Tinted Glass * Striking Factory Spider Alloy Wheels The last body style of the Alfa Spider Veloce is considered by many to be the "Best of the Best", in Alfa Romeo convertibles. They are comfortable, fun to drive, and offer very attractive styling, at an affordable price. Unlike many of the earlier British roadsters, the Alfa's offered increased refinement, performance, and reliability, as well. They also came with improved "creature comforts" including air conditioning, power windows, nice sound systems, power steering and beautiful interiors. "Opening up" the car to the sky above is simply a matter of undoing (from the driver's seat) the two latches from the windshield area, and pushing it back to the rear storage area. Instant convertible! Considering their size, the Alfa Spider even offered ample trunk space for those long weekends on the coast, or to your favorite holiday destination. By 1993 the Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce carried a sticker price of $25,473 and the delivered price to the cars new owner would have approached the $30,000 mark (Note: these cars carried a premium and many were delivered with pricing mark-ups over retail). Needless to say, this represented a relatively expensive sports car "in the day." RECENT MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE / IMPROVEMENTS ? Maintenance & upgrade history included SUMMARY The car has always passed California strict smog tests. The Alfa carries a clear transferrable title that is free from liens or encumbrances. The cars documentation supports the cars original delivery in California including the original early dealer servicing invoice showing an original delivery date of 3/25/1993. Since being delivered, the car has remained in California and has only accumulated a total of 44,885 miles. The Car Fax independent report supports the accuracy of the mileage. This is a "no excuses example" with no "tales" relative to any speedometer / odometer history or questionable mileage. The mileage is chronologically documented on the recent repair receipts. Information from the cars previous owner suggests a high level of care for the Alfa. As an enthusiast, the oil was changed at recommended service intervals and a complete oil service was just completed (within a few hundred miles). Additionally, the Alfa has just had the benefit of a brand new clutch and upgraded suspension components. We must emphasize, however, that this car was driven carefully, never raced, "tracked" or abused. The Alfa is not only a pleasure to look at but also a pleasure to drive! It drives like a considerably newer vehicle and brings us back to when these cars were new. It is incredibly fun to drive and does not exhibit any drivability problems. The car starts immediately when cold and hot, and runs cool, even in warm California temperatures. The battery is excellent and, as a result of the fuel injection, starts the car on the first attempt. If you are interested in owning one of the last of the last USA exported Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce's and are seeking an excellent, high quality car to use and drive, this is definitely a car to consider. The low mileage on the car results in a very strong engine that does not smoke or exhibit any drivability problems. The recent suspension is very tight and the steering is precise. The brakes stop the car straight and sure and the emergency brake is fully functional and properly adjusted. The car is absolutely striking and is finished in what is arguably the most sought after and unique color combinations of "British Racing Green" with tan leather / suede interior. The body is very straight and the paint is high gloss and free from major dents and damage. Even the front of the Alfa is free from the typical "road rash" that exists on so many of the Alfa Spiders. Any minor imperfections are so minor that they require a close, critical inspection to be noticed and do not detract from the appearance and beauty of the Alfa. The panel fit is excellent and the doors, hood and trunk close solidly and securely. The rubber seals are excellent as is the exterior trim. The engine bay is immaculate and the photos tell the story. The engine has received replacement hoses over the years, regular tune-ups and oil services along with other needed maintenance to keep it in excellent running condition. The transmission is as good as any that we have had with no issues up shifting and down shifting and absolutely no 2nd gear syncromesh problems up or down. The trunk is immaculate and 100% dry and free from signs of damage. The carpet is perfect and the original spare (with Pirelli tire) is in place in the totally rust free tire well. The jack and tools remain unused and properly stored. The car has excellent, quality Bridgestone Potenza tires (4 matching) fitted to factory alloy wheels that are in great condition and free from significant damage, fading or flaws. Please refer to the detailed photos that accurately depict the quality of the wheels (and the car!) We have owned over 30+ Alfa's during the past 25 years and can say with confidence that is one of the best examples of a later model Alfa Spider Veloce that we have had the pleasure of owning. Please keep in mind; Alfa Romeo is returning to the USA and these cars are bound to increase in value. We ask that you review the photographs and let us know if you have any specific questions regarding this rare, late model Alfa Spider Veloce. MISCELLANEOUS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ) 1. Has it received a safety / light inspection? Yes, the car has been checked for turn signals, brake lights, and license plate lights. 2. What is the total mileage on the Alfa? The odometer currently shows 44,885 and based on the records, there appears to be chronological documentation that the miles are correct. Also, and perhaps most important, the Car Fax report supports the accuracy of the mileage. 3. Was the work completed by professionals? Yes, all of the mechanical work was done professionally, and to a high standard. There I no history of a "Backyard mechanic" or "Do it yourself" mechanic has worked on this Alfa Romeo Spider. 4. What were the results of the independent inspection? The Alfa passed with no problem and no safety issues were identified. 5. What are the cars needs (if any) at this time? The vehicle is in very nice cosmetic condition and, as we have indicated, runs and drives well. The car has been very well cared for over the years and it shows. Of course, as a 1993 the car shows the typical minor paint chips and imperfections consistent with its age but its condition is far better than the quality of the large majority of vehicles that we see in this age range. 6. The air-conditioning, a common problem with all older Alfa's has been checked and is fully functional. While the majority of Spider owner's do not find a use for the A/C, it is refreshing to find an example where it actually works! 7. Does the car have seat belts and air bags? Yes, factory shoulder harnesses (no belts in the rear area). The car is equipped with a driver's side airbag for safety. 8. What is the condition of the convertible top and does the frame work function well? The convertible is absolutely beautiful, free from any damage or flaws having been recently changed. The window is perfectly clear and the car was always stored with the top in the up position, covered with a car cover in the garage. 9. Can we have the vehicle inspected? Absolutely, we encourage inspections of this Alfa by serious, qualified individuals, or professional inspection companies. All we ask is that you call us at 925-846-1451 to arrange a convenient time since we are in and out of our offices quite a bit. We are unable to allow inspections 24 hours prior to the end of the auction as we are closed on Sunday. 10. Can you provide some "ballpark" costs of shipping costs around the United States? Yes, on a fully insured, ENCLOSED carrier (we do not recommend the more common "open" transporters for a car of this caliber) and delivered to your door, about $1500.00 for most of the East Coast, $1300.00 to some of the Southern States, and around $1000 to points in the Midwest. The cost to Los Angeles would be in the area of $500.00. PLEASE check with us as these are just estimates, NOT firm shipping costs, and rates are changing regularly due to fuel costs, exact locations, and other factors. PURCHASING A COLLECTOR VEHICLE - THINGS TO CONSIDER As always, we recommend that you carefully review the seller's background of any collector car being sold over the Internet. We believe that it is important to ask yourself a number of questions including, but not limited to: - How long have they been in business? - How much experience do they have with collector cars? - How many positive collector car vehicle sales have completed (positive EBay feedback)? - How detailed/complete is the description of the vehicle? - Do the photos show details of the interior, exterior, top, chrome, etc. or are they simply "Glamour Shots" taken from a distance? - Does the seller have a surety bond to protect the financial transaction? - What about insurance, licensing by the state, and a local business license? - Does the seller (if a business) have any DMV (Motor Vehicle) complaints and/or other history of legal action, grievances? - Do they enjoy a favorable local and national/international reputation? - Can the seller assist with funding sources, transport and out of state/country sales?
