Vehicle Detail
My daughter bought this car from a buyer in Croton New York in 2008. I went with her from Butler Pa to pick it up. I drove it from just outside of NYC to Butler about 400 miles. It ran like a top. No handling problems. The brakes seemed good. The high beam switch was a bit tricky but worked with some fiddling. She bought this car with the notion that she would restore it with my help and drive it till she was out of college. She got as far as removing the seats. (they are still un bolted) and cutting out some of the rust in the rocker panels under the doors. Then the car just sat in my garage for the next 3 years. Last week I took it down off the jack stands. Put the key in the ignition and fired it up. It ran pretty rough cold and, the little gas that is in it is over 3 years old but, it smoothed out once it was warmed up. It did not smoke. I backed it out of the garage and took the pictures I have posted here. The under carriage is solid with a little rust in the floor of the drivers side. Along the rear fender wells on both sides the rust is prominent. The rocker panels under the doors will need replacing or fabricated. The hood is blue and not original with a monkey stenciled on it. The odometer reads 150877. The NY Title say odometer Exempt. I have no way to know if the miles are actual however the vehicle report seems to be consistent with the shown miles. A local salvage yard told me that if I drive it in they will give me 250.00 for it. I don't like to kill a good used car so I thought I would offer it to you handy fellows with a starting bid that should not leave me sad that I chose to do it this way. I am in bad health and selling my house and moving to a gentler climate so the winning bidder needs to understand that it can not sit here indefinatly. It is back in the garage where it has been for the last three years and it's really in the way of moving things out of the house. I have the clear NY title signed buy the original seller. The tires still have good tread on them and they hold air. The front ones are a little low but they haven't been aired up in 3 years. I will be happy to help you arrange local pickup but I can not deliver the car. If you want to bid and don't know how to move it try Uship. You can post an ad for an eBay Item I have not yet won. This is rear wheal drive and automatic so it should be towed on a trailer or flatbed or, with the front wheels down. It can be towed rear wheels down but that will require you to remove the drive shaft. The reason most rear wheal drive automatics can not be towed rear wheels down is that the transmission requires lubrication when it is being towed and the pump is attached to the tourque convertor which is driven by the engine. If the engine is not running and the car is towed even a short distance with the rear wheels down it can damage the clutches in the transmission. Feel free to contact me to arrange seeing the car before you bid. Feel free to ask questions through ebay ask seller question link. I try to be good about answering questions. Thank you for looking. Happy bidding. Check out my other items for sale. I am getting rid of a lot of stuff and trying to keep at least a few items for sale here at a time. I have paid extra for the enlarge pictures option so that you can get a good look at the body work it needs. I am no photographer and the close quarters of the inside of the car did not give me the room to give any perspective. Over all the interior is in decent shape for an old car. I noticed when taking the pictures the drivers seat has some wear in the seat part. The passanger seat in the rear is very nice but unbolted from the floor. I took pictures of the insides of the rockers at the doors so you can see where the rust stops as well. I have had a huge number of questions that ask me if the car starts. As I explained above, 3 years ago I drove it home 400 miles. It ran great. It has been in my garage on jack stands for three years. Not being driven. Not being run. I did start it a few days ago and drive it out to the street where I took the pictuers of the exterior. I do belive this will be a very nice project for a handy person and would take more work than money to make it an everyday driver. Please read the ad and make sure that the answer to your question isn't already there in the description before you fill my inbox asking me things I have already said. If you want me to elaborate on something I have described please take the time to be clear what you are asking in your question. I do welcome questions and will be happy to share my answers with everyone. Thank you once again, This is a NO RESERVE auction! High bidder wins no matter how low! Thomas On Mar-31-11 at 14:44:05 PDT, seller added the following information: I just got a call from a guy that wanted to know if the exhaust was good on this car. I realized that I had not mentioned anything about the exhaust system. It is a good exhaust from the engine to the tailpipe. Keep the questions coming and sooner or later I'll have this car described!
