Vehicle Detail

VERY RARE 1972 OLDSMOBILE HURST OLDS WITH SUNROOF Production was 629 cars, only 220 made w/sunroof! THIS IS A FIVE DAY AUCTION WITH NO RESERVE!!!! This is the perfect car to buy at the right price and do some light restoration to make it worth double what you paid for it. Car drives nice, starts all the time and looks great from 10 paces. Equipped with a Turbo 400 Hydro-matic Transmission, 455 matching numbers engine, popular Hurst Dualgate shifter, W45 hood, ram-air cleaner, scarce factory 8-Track, 10.1:1 compression, Cameo white paint with 3M reflective stripping, air-conditioning When Linda Vaughn was asked what was her favorite car, she undeniably stated that the 72 H/O was!. This is the third one I have owned over the last 30 years. This is the second one that has had a sunroof, I have never owned a convertable. THE GOOD AND THE BAD Good..this car starts everytime, it rides great and is solid from most perspectives. The vinyl on the seats are in great condition, one minor split on passenger seat. Hood is awesome, and the car is solid enough to make it available to show. It is all original with solid pannels and it is has a matching numbers engine and trans. The dash is clean, straight and solid, the console is a 7-10 condition. All exterior lights work. Good news is all the things that need to be replaced are easily available and should be replaced. Bad...I looked at this car last year or two, at the time the price was $25,000...since then it has sat outside in Florida and the rain has done some damage. Everythign worked that I know of except the 8-track, and that is only because I never tried it so I do not know. The car still drives as nice as it did and it runs just as strong. There is some rust on the car, most surface, nothing bad except for the strip of medal under the back window before the trunk lid (see photo). I have shown this to a body guy and he said no problem to fix for that or on any of the other rust. After taking care of that it really is a paint job and some new 3M reflective stripping. The carpeting needs to be replaced and when doing that just find out why the drivers seat is stuck, (it worked when I saw car last year) The carpet panel on drivers door should be replaced. The trunk pan will need to be replaced, it is rusted on one side due to water sitting in car, (all this was because last owner kept car outside for last two years in Florida..it rains a lot). Trunk lid is solid. The sunroof did work, it does not now, but I cannot get any interior lights working so that may be the only issue, I do not know if 8-Track works either due to wirring issue...(mechanic said no problem to fix lights, then you can see what is really working and what is in need of reapir). The Dualgate works but the cover slide does not, it is stuck, same thing, worked great last year, may just need to be cleaned and oiled. The exterior H/O tags an the interior one of the glove box will need to be replaced. I know this sounds like a lot, but it really is not, once at a body shop most if not all can be taken care of. I had an estimate of just over $5,000 for body work, paint and all materials and tags that need to be ordered. I was going to do the work but I lost my job and just moved to Florida. This is not a priority right now and with having to buy memorabila for my new business to resell I need to raise cash. This is not a $30,000 car, but for the money this is awesome! Buyer is responsible for getting car shipped. I live in Pembroke Pines, FL...zip is 33025 and I live only 30 minutes from either Miami or Ft Lauderdale Airports. Payment is due within 5 days of buying car, there is $2000 due within 24 hours. I do accept paypal and money orders, personal checks or bank transfers. I cannot release car until I have cleared funds...no exception. On Mar-28-11 at 07:59:01 PDT, seller added the following information: There is one grill missing in front, the owner I bought it from says he has it, just have not picked it up...he only lives 30 miles from me. If he does not have it I promise to replace it as it is an easy part to get.On Mar-28-11 at 20:13:00 PDT, seller added the following information: I put the wrong number for the VIN, This is correct off the dashboard...3J57U2M211058 On Mar-31-11 at 20:30:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that we do have the air conditioning compressor and it will be delivered with the car, sorry for the confusion
