Vehicle Detail
Alright Everybody, SAVE THIS CAR! This car was my IDEAL car. The perfect daily driver (about 24-25 MPGs) that could still beat nearly anything off the line. 0-60 in 5.6, 0-90 in 10.8. Here is a review (http://stuff.silverorange.com/archive/2004/april/2002subaru): "It feels like its on rails and on steroids. The driving experience is everything Subaru claims it to be and truthfully a little more. Even after two years of driving this car I am still excited to round long corners and slingshot out the other end. The acceleration is a constant pining to the seat, all the way up to its max speed of 222km/hour (I’ve only hit 190 – but I chickened out, not the car). Braking is as impressive as the acceleration. Constant, quick, and you can come to a complete stop almost as abruptly as you’d like." ... The reviews ALL sound like this. The Bad News So, there was recently a mishap involving my baby, my little 2002 subaru wrx. There is significant body damage to the roof, windshield, passenger door, and front right body panel. These will most likely need replaced. The hood and dashboard are also damaged but are most likely repairable. The insurance company does consider it a total loss. The Good News All the mechanics of the car are intact. This car will still go 0-60 in 5.6 seconds and handle nearly any weather or road conditions (except maybe extremely large speed bumps) that you can throw at it. You just won't be able to see very well when doing it. The car only has 75000 miles on it and the subaru engine should easily last another 50000+. The Great News The reserve is extremely low for a 02 WRX with less than 75000 miles on it. I do not have the time, skill, or money to fix it but think that it would be a great loss to let the insurance company tow it off to a junkyard and let it waste away. Therefore I want to give anyone out there who does have either the time, skill, money, or combination of the three to have a chance at it first. It will be listed for 7 days, and if noone pics it up I will just go ahead and junk it or donate it, but I really think the insurance company is misrepresenting the value of the car, especially to someone who has worked with subarus before. Details I bought this car about 8 months ago with about 56000 miles on it. It already had a salvage title so I had 2 mechanics look it over. They found that though there were some spots where you could tell work was done to it, the frame was intact and all the mechanics were in great shape. I bought it for about $8500 which I thought was a steal for how many miles it had. Pros Mechanics Perfect Very Low Miles (<75000) Like New Continental DWS (all season) Tires ... amazing in rain and snow After-market Muffler (HSK) Driven as a daily driver (mainly to work and back) Cons 2 total losses in the vehicles history (one unknown, but inspected - about 30-40000 miles ago I believe) (one recent, lots of body damage but no mechanical damage) Special Note: I want this car to sell. I hate to this that this will end up in a lot. I will try to provide as many pictures, both pre and post damage, and information as possible. If you have any questions please message me and ask them. If you talk to me early enough and are around the area I would gladly take you to inspect the car yourself (it is currently in the Fontana, CA area). Shipping Note: I can deliver the vehicle for free within 100 miles of San Bernardino, CA 92407. Anything outside of that will have to be picked up by the Buyer.
