Vehicle Detail
NOT A 1980, HAD TO LIST THIS WAY BECAUSE EBAY'S SYSTEM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE GERMAN VIN, THIS WAS NOT INTENDED FOR IMPORT TO THE US 1982 Mercedes Benz 500 SEC "Pre-Production Vehicle" with 54,000 miles This is a one of a kind car. The VIN says it all (WDB12604412000032). This was the 32nd 500 SEC ever built. The information I received from MBZ in Germany was the first 75 cars built were for testing, crashing or auto shows. This was the one with all of the options and shown at shows, all of the other 74 pre-production cars are gone. This is now the first SEC. It was eventually given to a dealer in Germany, who sold it to a dealer that brought the car over to Oregon, where it sat in the desert for 10 years. Yes there is a desert in Oregon! He then brought the car to southern California and did a chrome off paint job and color change (Copper to Black), with 11 coast of paint to give a constant 'wet' look. He once again left the car for a year when I found it. I purchased it, I took the car to AMG in Santa Ana California and they got the car smog legal, so I could register it and it would pass California smog testing. (Expensive) I've only put 6,000 miles on in 14 years, but because I didn't drive it that much, it always needed something. It runs great, the motor is incredible, just recently I went to drive it and went it shifted in to 4th gear, it was like it went in to neutral. There wasn't any grinding sound at all, just revved up. Needs some minor cosmetic work. It has a great deal of power. Please inspect the car. The list of good things: One of a kind - Pre-production 54,000 original US miles (it was in Germany for 3 years prior to coming to the US and the speedo was changed for US, unknown kilometers in Germany 1982-1985) Every option available at the time Air condition works great Leather Automatic Sunroof Cruise control (in German) Power door locks Power windows (recently replaced power window buttons) Power Mirror (only one power mirror, the passenger side. Driver side is manual) Dual power seats Nice wheels and tires DVD monitor and stereo - in dash w/ remote Smog legal in California and probably all the other states, since California is the toughest. AMG in Santa Ana did the California conversion. Needs: Dash has cracks Wood on dash needs repair or replace Transmission - no 4th gear ABS light is on Clear coat peeling off on some spots Minor door dings Had some moisture in trunk, maybe leak from rear window Might need new battery, but will jump start and run with the current one One head light out Registration is not current (California) Since I didn't really drive the car that much, there may always be other things that are unknown, you can have a mechanic come over a checkout the car. Please contact me to arrange. Please no personal or business checks, if your paying by cashiers check, I will put a 10 day hold on the release of the car. Cash is king. $500 USD Paypal deposit required at end of auction. No zero feedback bidders please. If you have no bidding history or negative feedback, please contact me before bidding. The car is for sale locally as well and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Located in Laguna Hills, California.
