I am selling our dearly loved and trusted 1991 Mercedes 350SD. If you are looking at this ad you probably already know that this vehicle represents. In a few words, the 1991 350 SD and SDL sedans are considered the last of the “classic diesel Benzs” for their styling, safety and performance/handling and reliability. With a brand new original MB head and many new parts (see below) this Benz will provide years of trouble free ownership. Will also be a good candidate for conversion to biodiesel. This is a Benz that really lives up to its brand name; not one of those newer Benzs that will eat into your pocketbook with chronic electrical and sundry issues. Literally, just fill it and drive it !! Current Condition Engine I bought the car with a bad head. BUT before putting on a brand new (and expensive) head I thoroughly measured the piston projections above the block and all were well within specs, indicating that the bottom half of the engine was good. So the block in this car is solid, and the head is of course brand new. Engine is smooth and quiet. Does use about a quart of oil every 1300 miles. Transmission REBUILT 50K milew ago. Shifts beautifully in and from all gears. AC/Cooling system Stays well below half with AC on even in the hottest days. AC is very cold, no leaks. Needs new AC relay. Exhaust system It is solid end to end. No leaks. Electrical system All electricals work fine. Cruise control is sometimes fussy. Far right dash light is out. Interior All leather is still good, headliner, door panels and dashboard are in great shape ! Wood trim around gearshift is cracked. Carpets clean. Foldable, collapsible, adjustible chrome cup holder mounted on each front door. Pop it out to use and fold it away. Accomodates a wide variety of beverage containers. Doors open and close fine with cup holder in use....need to have lid though !! Fuel System Pump, seals, solenoids, injectors, hoses all checked and all working well. 23mpg consistently in mixed driving. Steering/Suspension New shocks front and rear, beautiful smooth, solid ride as you would expect. Silky power steering. Tires Rear have 60% tread left; front tires will need replacing soon. Exterior/underbody The black paint is in very clean condition. Obviously far from new, but original glossy paint with a few scratches/swirls. No dents or rust in the body anywhere, including underbody. Repairs and Parts 1. Upgraded MB Cylinder Head and head gasket; 2. Rebuilt transmission (50K miles ago) 3. New Radiator 4.
