1971 Honda

Up for auction is this mostly restored Honda, the bike was built several years ago. The bike was painted, new brakes, tires, seat cover and foam, new air filters, cables were replaced as needed, mufflers were patched and proffessionally welded, the tank was lined. The lights work, the bike starts and runs as it should, goes through all gears properly and rides great. The man who had the bike restored never rode it. The bike has sat in a climate controlled shop, he put less than 200 miles on the bike. Judging by the tires I would agree this is correct. When I bought the bike it would not start, I took it to the shop. They replaced the battery and said the carbs had been rebuilt, but the bike runs rich. The shop could not adjust the carbs properly and determined that the wrong carb kit had been installed. The shop ground the adjusting screws and got the bike to run. I have ordered the new, correct carb kit, and it will go with the bike. I have rode the bike and there is no misfiring or rough running just the rich condition with the carbs. The bike kicks starts easily when it is cold, after it is warm it is much more difficult to start, and this is due to this carb condition. The bike does smoke but the mechanic said that this is probably due to the rich running condition. The only thing I know that does not work is the speedometer. The bike has a dent on the back of the tank there is a picture of that. The dent does not show from either side of the bike. The tail light lens is missing but I have ordered a new NOS one that will go with the bike. I consider this bike to be a nearly completed project, as such I am starting this rare classic at $1500.00 with no reserve.
