Vehicle Detail
This is a matching numbers 1972 Bonneville T120V. The "R" is missing from the engine number signifying that this bike was originally sold in the British market, and was later brought to the US by other means. Though the lower-end and frame is a Bonnie, it has been outfitted with a a TR6 single carb head. According to the previous owner, this bike ran fine before he began to disassemble it, but it lacked compression on hills and steep grades. He was going to restore it, but as we all know, stuff happens. I'm sure the whole top-end needs to be redone; but the motor does turn freely, and still seems to have pretty good compression. The transmission is definitely a 5-speed, and it shifts through the gears easily in spite of the clutch being worn way-out of adjustment (could also be the reason it dogged up the hills). Aside from the head being swapped-out, I can't see any evidence that any of the rest of this motor has ever been apart. The speedo and tach work, so I believe the mileage shown is original. Wheels and tires are in "Good+" condition. They are pretty grimy from being stored for a long time, but I haven't seen any dings, rash, or rust and they should clean-up beautifully. The tank has it's original paint, buts it's as thin as it can get from polishing without seeing through it. However, there are no dings, dents or bondo. Tank also has original badges (one is cracked), chrome-bead and center. The Good: This bike came with lots of new and extra parts. Among the new is the seat, some retro-look side-covers, handle-bars, tank badges, wiring harness, gaskets, oil seals, carb rebuilding kit, ignition switch, cables, foot-rest rubbers and a timing wheel with a TDC tool. The used stuff is in good shape and still usable (or sellable). There are a couple rear fenders, an assortment of tail light mounts, foot rests, an older non-stock headlight bucket and lamp, and the original wiring harness and coils that look to be still in good shape. The frame has all its original mounting tabs and the front-end is smooth and rust-free. Original air box assembly is also included. There is a clear California title that I have not received yet. The Bad: The frame has been repaired at the rear seat loop, and should be professionally re-done if you intend to keep the frame and engine as matching components. The repair is to both sides of the loop behind the shock mounts. I don't know if it was cut or broken, but it shouldn't affect the overall handling of the bike even it you leave it the way it is. Could use some new pipes and mufflers, needs a new drive chain, and the handle-bar switches are only shells and levers. Please review the pictures and ask all the questions you want via e-mail. I will provide additional pictures by individual request, and be available by appointment to show the bike if you are located close enough to come see it. I will help by getting it all together for the winner, and meeting your shipper, but shipping or pick-up is entirely your deal. If I have to crate it, or transport it further than the city limits, there will be an additional charge TBD. Bid early and bid often if you are interested; bike is for sale locally, and auction could end at any time. $500 non-refundable deposit to be paid within 24 hours of auction close; balance within 7 days of auction closing. Please make arrangement to have the bike and parts out of here within 10 days after you've paid, or storage fees could be assessed if you haven't cleared-it with me first. Thanks for looking!
