1957 Ford Fairlane 500 2 door sedan, excellent restoration project! 292 engine with automatic transmission. The car is complete with the exception of the air cleaner and the fairlane emblem that goes at the top of the rear seat. The floor pans and frame on this car are very solid. The only holes that I could see in the underside of the car are in the trunk floor (see pictures) and a couple floor braces look thin. This car belonged to the original owner until last year. The car had a poor repaint sometime during the early 1970's. The doors and decklid are solid and the quarters, fenders, and rockers are repairable. Someone either welded or filled the seam where the bottom of the fenders meet the rocker panels (see pictures). The interior needs redone, but the door panels could be used. The engine starts right up and runs good with no smoke or noise. The fuel system has been cleaned out. The brakes have been repaired enough so that the car stops. The transmission shifts good but leaks when it sits and does not want to stay in park. The power steering also works well but leaks when it sits. The trim missing from the side of the car is included. I looked for a '57 to restore for several years (and looked at several cars) before I bought this one because it was complete and not rotted away.
