Vehicle Detail
As the first post-war production car built by the Bayerische Motoren Werke, the 501 certainly is a piece of history.; With its ostentatious appointments and curvy styling (we see where the 7-series gets its trunk lid from), the 501 was nicknamed the “Baroque Angel,” but it could perhaps be termed the “Baroque Angel of Death.”; While the car had a good reputation for comfort and luxury, manufacturing costs and poor sales nearly killed the company. Between 1952 and 1961, BMW produced just under 20,000 examples of the 501 and its derivatives; few made the journey into the U.S, making this 1953 501A an unusual find. This is a classic BMW with complete history established from factory, all documents and original owners books, manuals are included. This rare car is waiting for an engine, about 90% of the motor is available, all original. The interior is exceptional and is high quality materials.
