Vehicle Detail
1972 Datsun 240z You love the look of the early Zs but are hesitant about rust issues, right? This car was Ziebarted when new and has ZERO RUST! You can hear the suck of the dual round-tops and the blat of the exhaust but don’t want to spend your time tuning and balancing the engine, right? This car has been completely refreshed. Carbs tuned, balanced, complete ignition refresh, valve adjustment. It’s had it all. You want to be able to drive it whenever you want, maybe even every-day, but don’t want to have to worry about reliability and comfort, right? This car has been gone over with a fine-toothed comb. New brake booster and master cylinder, new tires, new radiator, new thermostat and hoses, new heater core, new A/C hoses. That’s right, this car has original dealer-installed A/C that blows ice-cold. You want to go to shows and have people comment that they haven’t ever seen a nicer Z and maybe even win a trophy or two, right? This is the car that can make it happen. This is a truly spectacular, fully refreshed 1972 Datsun 240z. It was built in November 1971 and delivered to Captain Ian F. Brown of the US Navy on Okinawa. He brought it back to Orlando, FL with him and it has remained in Florida ever since. When Captain Brown passed away in 2006, his estate sold it to its second owner in Spring Hill, FL, who partially refreshed the car and sold it to me. I then completed the refresh and am providing you the opportunity to love it as much as I have. It has been re-painted in its original 018 Datsun white with its original red and black interior. The paint is virtually flawless and the interior is perfect. Captain Brown had the car Ziebarted and kept it in his garage when he returned to the states. I couldn’t thank him more. As a result, the car is rust-free and pristine. The original dash has NO CRACKS. The vinyl seats are perfect and shiny. All of the gauges and the clock work correctly. Oh yeah, the ORIGINAL RADIO works perfectly and sounds great. In addition to the other things I mentioned above, I have performed a full tune-up from the factory service manual, which I will include on CD for the winner. The compression checks out at factory specs of 180-185 psi on all cylinders. The vacuum reads steady at 19. The 2.4L unmolested straight six matches the VIN tag on the fender. It has its correct 4 Speed stick that shifts like butter. She starts up on the first crank every time. The Carbs were rebuilt and balanced and tuned in my garage and she runs perfectly. The manual choke works as it should and makes worries about carbureted cars starting in the cold unimportant. It has gotten down into the thirties this year in south Florida and I have never had a problem starting her right up. This car drives straight as an arrow down the road and has no shaking or shimmying. The entire chassis has been inspected and lubed and/or replaced as necessary. 85MPH on I-75 doesn’t scare this old girl one bit. When I drive it around, everyone asks what year it is and tells me stories about how they or one of their friends had one when they were younger and how much everyone loved the car. I couldn’t agree with them more. There is a reason that the Z is the only Japanese classic in the US. It is the perfect combination of sport, agility and reliability. They would be amazed, however, if I showed them all of the documentation that comes with the car. Original handwritten service records from the US and Okinawa as well as receipts for all of the repairs and refresh that has occurred will accompany her to her next owner. Even the original tool-kit comes with the car. If you are serious about buying a Z that you can drive, love, show-off and just stare at, then this one is the only one you should look at. And if you are that serious, then feel free to send me a message via e-bay to discuss whatever I may have missed. Then bid to own this pristine piece of sports-car history. Take a look at the 60+ Pictures and VIDEO below. You will not be disappointed. If you are the winning bidder, then you will need to send a $1,000.00 deposit via PayPal within two days of auction close. Then you will have to pay the remaining balance via cashier’s check or cash in person within seven days of auction close. If you don’t pick up the car after you pay the deposit and I cannot get in touch with you, I will have to keep the deposit as liquidated damages. However, if you arrive to pick up the car and find that it has been materially misdescribed, I will refund the full deposit. Additionally, I won’t stop new e-bayers from bidding, but if you have less than five feedbacks or a feedback score of less than 95%, please send me a message via e-bay before you bid as it might be cancelled.
