Normal 0 1965 Buick LeSabre When was the last time you were able to purchase a 46 year old car owned by the same family since new? This is one such example, being offered for sale in the used market for the first time. Currently owned by my Father in Law, this car was originally purchased by his parents in 1965. The car was passed down to my Father in Law approximately 15 years ago. Here is what I can tell you about this automobile: 1965 Buick LeSabre 4-door sedan. 300 cu in. V-8. 2v carburetor w/ automatic transmission. Medium Blue interior and exterior. 148,590 original miles Major options: 1. 2-speed Auto Transmission 2. Power steering 3. Factory Air Conditioning Purchased new in Shreveport, Louisiana. Has been located there since it was brand new. The body is fantastic, as it has never been driven anywhere close to the Snow Belt or on salty roads. Car is still located in Shreveport today. With the exception of the last two years, the car has been stored in a garage or under a shelter it’s entire life. Car has had less than 1,000 miles put on it in the last 20 years. Based on its original condition after 46 years, I would rate the car a 7 on a 1-10 scale. Here are some specifics: Mechanical: Engine and transmission were rebuilt within the past 15,000 miles. We have the receipts for work done. New Battery. New battery cables. New points, condenser, rotor and distributor cap. Car starts and runs excellent, with no smoke on startup. Transmission operates normally. Power steering works well. A/C compressor did engage and operate when turned on, but status of coolant charge is unknown. Alternator and charging system work. No leaks or drips noted under vehicle. Car is drivable- I drove this car down a country road two days ago. Please note: due to the age of both the tires and brake system of this car, we DO NOT consider the car to be roadworthy at this time. Tires need to be replaced, and the brake system will need updating before the vehicle will be safe to drive on public highways. Cosmetics, body and interior What you see is what you get, but over all excellent condition for a 46 year old vehicle. Some very light surface rust at very lower corners of rear quarter panels- not the deep rot that is typical for this area. Some small pinholes at the lower corners of the rear window- very typical on older Buicks. Left front fender and left front hood were repaired after a light collision in 1989. No other damage history. Entire car repainted in 1989 when left front fender and hood were repaired. Top of hood, right side, has a deep scratch in it. Metal is not creased or deformed, but a tent pole scraped the paint off the hood. Bottom of trunk is moist due to old weatherstripping on the trunk lid. There is no rust in the bottom of the trunk to speak of- just a moist trunk liner at this time. Front seat was recovered several decades ago. Otherwise, interior is original, including carpeting, headliner and rear seat upholstery. Top of rear seat is showing wear, as is the rear “hat rack” inside of the rear window. All glass is good. All doors and hardware operate normally. One hubcap is misplaced- no guarantee that it will be found before the auction closes, but we will try... Documentation Here is the cool part about this car- all original and significant documents come with the car. Original window sticker, original owners manual and warranty book including Protect O Plate, original bill of sale and all significant receipts, including engine and transmission work, are included. ----------- This should be obvious, but this vehicle is sold as is, where is, with all faults.
