Vehicle Detail
I have a vintage 1967 Honda C201 (Honda 90). I bought it in 2008 from a guy in Michigan. He had found it at an estate sale that same year. The people who had passed away had a son who served in the military on a base in Japan. He had shipped the bike back to the states and stored it in his parents basement, untouched. When I purchased the bike, it had never been started. In fact, the bike had only 0.02 of a kilometer on it from being rolled. It had been stored with oil inside the motor and there was no rust in the gas tank. I had keys made for it and took it to velocity motorcycles to have the engine adjusted properly (after 40 years). It started right up. The bike does have a clear VA title. If you aren't familiar with this bike, it is a 4 stroke, 4 speed bike. It has a high and low beam and can ride a passenger on the back seat, equipped with rear pegs. The back seat you see on the bike is removable. There is a rack under it. I obtained plates for it, but turned them in and instead rode it around without, since it has a ‘moped’ appearance. Everything on this bike is original. Even the tires and tubes and to add, they are in excellent condition. The tires still had the molding in 2008. The chrome still shines and all of the lights, signals and horn work with the original bulbs. Most importantly, the bike runs like a dream for being so old, yet so rarely used until 2008. I have polished and waxed the bike 4 times since purchasing it in 2008 and changed the oil 5 times. NOTE: The bike is in kilometers, I converted kilometers to miles to list it on the page. In 2010, I had the valves adjusted and carburetor cleaned by velocity. It has been stored in my living room the entire time as well. I have been riding it to work during warm days since having it started. The only big flaw on it was caused by a drunken student attempting to sit on it/steal it while it was cooling off in front of my house in Oregon Hill. He layed it down on the sidewalk while attempting to roll it away and cracked the back left turning signal all the way through at the base. I had repaired it temporarily (will need to be aluminum welded, or a new signal mount will need to be located on eBay). I HAVE TAKEN THE TEMPORARY REPAIR OFF THE HEADLIGHT TO SHOW THE EXACT FLAW. It still works when the cracked sides are touching, creating a ground for the light. The grip handle has a small scuff on the end due to the attempted larceny as well. There are also spots of corrosion on the muffler chrome, wheel chrome, spokes, and on a few places on the paint, back right turn signal mount; they were there when it was purchased because of the basement moisture. Vintage chrome is very prone to this. There are a few scratches on the back fender where my license plate was mounted, The little plastic switch for the high/low beam for the light fell off the first day I drove it home from the shop in 2008. The last flaw is a very small crack on the white strip around the front fender. The white stripe is separate from the fender itself, so the fender is not cracked. This was caused by me in 2009 by bumping it into our rocking chair when bringing it into the house. Everything should be visible in the photos. There are no dents in the bike. Sounds like a mouthful, but I wanted to list every small defect to be accurate. This is what the previous owner told me about the bike: Dear Snowslider345,A military guy bought bike in Japan and sent it back home to parents house in Grosse Pointe, MI. Soldier never came home. Parents kept in their basement until they passed. The guys that were hired to clean out the place found it in condition as you received it. New and never run. This model was never imported to the US. However, parts are available from ebay or DRATV.com. It is similar and shares parts with the CT90, S90, CS90 and other Honda models of that era. Thats about what I remember **** This bike will turn heads when you take it out and it is one of a kind. I would prefer pickup, but if the buyer arranges shipping, I would be willing to drop it off to a local shipping company. Cash or Paypal only. Please don't hesitate to shoot me a message or come by and take a look at it if you are in the area. Everything I have described should be shown in the photos. If you don't think so, I'd be glad to snap another shot at it. Thanks for looking!
