Vehicle Detail
1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 project car. This car was disassembled 25 years ago and never finished. I couldn't pass it up because of the rarity of the 2+2 and the condition of the body, but I just have too many projects and would rather see someone buy it and finish it because I don't know when I will get to it. The body on this car is exceptional for an Ohio car. The only places that appear to have been repaired are the lower quarter panels in front of the wheels, the lower rear corners of the front fenders, and the bottom of the rear window. These repairs were done 20+ years ago, and were done correctly. It will take very little body work to prep for paint. The engine is the correct 421 with 400 turbo automatic transmission. I have not had the engine running, but it was supposed to have been rebuilt and it does turn easily by hand. The carbureator and air cleaner are missing. The interior is complete and not tore up, but will need reupholstered to finish the car right. The dash pad is very nice, no cracks! The car has power steering, power brakes, rare factory AM/FM radio and factory mechanical oil pressure and temperature guages (no idiot lights). The front bumper has been rechromed, the rear bumper is not N.O.S., but close because it was removed from a car in 1966 and stored in the rafters of a local Pontiac dealer. The headlight bezels have also been rechromed. The trim tag information and engine ID are as follows: 65-25237 PON 21121 Body ST 233-B W-W PT TR W2ZGP 4F 50W Engine YH 405377 The drivers side door glass, the rear chrome trim (below the decklid and between the taillights), 2+2 emblems, carb and air cleaner are missing. I believe everything else is there, but that doesn't mean something minor won't come up missing when you assemble the car. The car does have "Bonneville" on the dash and I am not sure why unless someone changed the insert over the years. The fenders, doors, decklid, and hood are stored and I cannot get pictures easily and do not want to dig them out until the car is sold because I have no room to store them, but they are in nice condition. I have done body work and restorations for over 20 years and we are dealing with nice sheet metal to complete this car! The trunk floor and floor pans have no rot and the frame is really nice. There is surface rust that can be easily cleaned, but no rot and no patches in the floors and frame! Please bid to buy. I would not recommend shipping because of the loose parts and it is not running. I can bolt on the doors and decklid for easier transport. For information call 740-391-2162. You will have to leave a message during weekdays from 9-4. Good Luck. On Feb-19-11 at 17:13:21 PST, seller added the following information: There have been several questions regarding the missing sheet metal. There is no missing sheet metal. I have the front fenders, hood, inner fenders, core support, decklid, doors, center nose piece, splash pan, radiator, etc..
