Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1992 Caprice wagon. I bought this car two years ago as a back up for our family vehicle from an older gentleman in Florida. The car spent the majority of it's life in Florida, and is rust free. I personally think that the car is good shape considering the age. It has a few scrapes here and there in the paint, a small dent in the passenger rear door, and some uneven spots in the rear quarter (pictured below). All of these are pretty mild and could be easily repaired should you want to return it to factory condition. The interior is in good condition; no cracks in the dash or doors, and no tears in the seats. The A/C, cruise, heater, door locks, seat controls and dash controls work as they should. The drivers window moves but not much, the passenger rolls down fine and the rear two will roll down but the tracks inside the door are worn and they will roll back up but need to be guided into final position if you roll them down more than 4 or so inches. The rear door and window work properly. This car has the adjustable air shocks in the rear, and came stock with a tow hitch. The shocks still retain air properly and are adjustable via a valve stem on the underside of the rear bumper. This car rides like a magic carpet, I swear it is unbelievably comfortable. The plush interior cleans easily with a soapy wet rag, which you will not find in most modern day cars. We have used this car for taking trips, and I've gotten 27mpg on the interstate and usually average about 25 highway. In the city I generally get about 17mpg, but you can coax a bit more out of it if you have a light foot. Funny thing about this car is that it has the 5.7 liter V8, and people look at the car and think it's tortoise slow- boy, are they wrong. It has more power than any vehicle needs. I put aluminum American Racing rims and 50K tires on it last summer, I think it makes the car look nice and they get a lot of compliments. This car also has the rear facing seat, and it possible to fit 9 adults in this car, or fold the seats down and haul 2 dozen sheets of plywood; your call. I have changed the oil at regular intervals and replaced the thermostat and water pump last year. Other than that, the car has not needed anything. I would expect if it does not sell I will be replacing the front brake pads and turning the rotors in the next 5000 miles or so, but they function fine as they are. It is ready to drive anywhere, and to be honest out of the 4 vehicles I own this is the one I trust the most. The powertrain is one of the best GM ever made, and all of the components in these cars were made to last, are affordable and readily accessible if needed. I don't know if you are looking for a good family car, a work car, a surf wagon or cruiser, but this car is all of those and more. I am more than happy to answer any questions about the car and you can reach me (A.P.) at 317-430-1847. FYI if you have mid 90's or early 2000's minivan in good condition you would like to trade, let me know and we can see what can be worked out. Thank you for looking.
