For sale is a 1981 Honda Goldwing GL1100 showing 56,807 miles. I purchased this from a finance company that apparently held it as collateral on a loan that was in default. My original thinking was to buy it and part it out but on a closer look......there's a bike here that could possibly be restored with a little work and could end up being a neat low-budget daily driver. There are many chrome accessories (radiator surround, valve covers, timing belt cover etc), the tires seem to be way better than average and the lights, turn signals, horn, brake light etc seem to work just fine. The color is called metallic blue-black. The engine turns over easily with a jump and almost starts but doesn't. I checked the front air shocks and they still had 16 pounds of air in them even after sitting for many months, so that's not going to be a repair issue. If you're handy working with a wrench or have a buddy who is & willing to help..........there's a save-able bike here. *** This bike was registered , tagged and driven on the road up until 10/31/2010 and it was actually driven to the finance company's storage lot 3 or 4 months ago. It is not a show bike cosmetically and the only thing I guarantee is---that it's a 1981 Honda Goldwing GL1100. On Feb-19-11 at 12:37:23 PST, seller added the following information: Update!! .......Today (Saturday) it was brought to my attention the choke cable is missing on the bike. I fastened a coat hanger wire so I could pull the choke on. I jumped the dead battery off my car and hit the starter.........the bike bucked and kicked, smoked a little and then smoothed out to run just fine! It felt OK enough that I put in first gear and took off. I went over 2 miles, went thru all 5 gears and got it up to 50 mph with no problem. The carburetors seemed to work just fine. The bike rode & felt like I'd imagine a 1981 Goldwing should. The speedometer, odometer and tachometer work like they're supposed to. The exhaust sounded normal as well. * Both the front & rear brakes will need rebuilding. The engine must have some kind of oil leak because once I shut the bike off, you could smell the oil burning off. The throttle cable is difficult to turn (it's tight). ** I still say, there is a bike here if you've got the talent, time and patience and want a low budget (not fancy) daily rider.
