Vehicle Detail

1969 Pontiac Bonneville, Convertible. 428 CI,V8, 360 HP @ 4600 RPM, 472 LBS FT of Torque @ 3200 RPM. 10.5 to 1 compression. ( I looked up specs on line and confirmed the #s on the heads and block) Engine runs smooth and strong , excellent. Transmission shifts with precision. Differential is tight. Steering, front end, and suspension are tight, no rattles. The frame is solid and the only rust on the entire body is limited to around the rear tires on both sides. These areas were patched several years ago along with a paint job of the original color. I have new rear quarters to repair these areas correctly and they are included with the car. All the glass and chrome are in excellent condition. (One window, the rear drivers side comes off its track and needs to be guided up and down.) The newer top is in excellent condition and works as it should. All lights, gauges, wipers, and horn work. The interior is excellent, no tears, rips or holes. The dash is very good ,no cracks or fades. The carpet is like new but has some fading on the transmission hump area. You can see it it the pictures. The engine compartment is clean. All hose and wire brackets in place and everything is where it belongs. The only things in the engine compartment are the engine and whats needed to make the run. This car MUST be driven to be appreciated : I was not in the market for another car, I'm a Ford man, but was persuaded to take this" convertible with the 428 "for a ride. It started right up smooth, no skips or smoke, sounded great. Put the top down, yeah. Click the shifter to D and immediate response, no hesitation and off I went, top down, nice. Traveling on rough side streets I notice, tight, no rattles. I'm impressed with this car. We get out on a main road and I give it some gas and I feel that 472 LBS FT of torque. The response is immediate, like turning a dial. It drove and handled like a new car. But that torque! And all so tight! I bought it on the spot. I leave for the 65 mile ride home and looking forward to my first toll booth. Grab my ticket and press the gas pedal, not jumping on it, and with the tires screeching for traction off I go. Is this thing a muscle car? It sure feels like one! I cruise the next 60 miles at 74MPH, hands off the wheel to test, straight , no shake or shimmy, overheating, no problems at all, and on a nice sunny day, with the top down. I'm Happy! I added the above description of how I felt driving this car the first time for the benefit of those interested but unable to take a test drive. I am not sure if the milage is accurate but all of my mechanics agree its not a car that has gone 100,000 plus miles. When you drive it you will agree. Again, This is a real nice unmolested car that needs very little work to be a VERY nice car. Or it's very dependable and could be a daily driver that gets constant compliments. If you are interested, I have many more pictures I can send along with the Certified Appraisal of $9500, I had to buy for my insurance company. Read what a profesional thinks of this car. I am happy to answer any questions or take more pictures if it helps. Thanks for checking it out.
