Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my Dodge pickup, which I bought a couple of years ago to drive around town and plow my, and a few friend's and family's driveways. I went through this thing top to bottom and got it running and plowing great. Now, I am unemployed and I have to sell it to pay bills. This Dodge is like the TV commercial: "Ram Tough". The frame is solid with some surface-rust but no rust-through. The exterior looks decent with no big dings and has a "20 foot" paint job that could use a respray. In other words, you're probably not going to enter it into a show. The only obvious rot is on the passenger side quarter just behind the front wheel well (see pic), where everything rots out if it lives long enough. The floor pans are SOLID and so is the pickup bed. The plow itself could use paint, but again, 100% solid and ready to plow. The Western plow pump works great and goes to all positions at the command of the control switch. The plow has a good edge, comes with its original shoes and plow stand. The fittings "weep" a little bit as is pretty typical, so I keep a quart of Western plow fluid on hand and stow it behind the seat. The tires are good. The lights, blinkers and 4-ways all work as do the marker lights and the cargo lamp. As you'll see from the pics, the plow has retro-style headlights which are actually N.O.S. Dietz lights from the 70's. I finally unboxed and installed them in 2009 when I bought the truck. They have hi-lo beams and work great. The truck has lots of new parts. The clutch is recent and grabs nice and low. The master cylinder and brake booster were done recently. The brake lines and emergency brake hardware were done in December. The anti-locks work as they should and there's no sticking when you release the emergency brake. The gas tank was replaced along with the fuel pump, gas filter and fuel lines. The lines to and from the power steering reservoir were replaced in 2010 and the power steering works really nice. The water pump is new this month, the serpentine belt is new too. The antifreeze is new. The oil pan and pan gasket are new and so is the oil and filter. The front driveshaft was replaced last year. The 4X4 actuator was replaced in '09 and the truck comes with a new one in the box, ready to go, just in case. The front bumper is new and the truck comes with a replacement grille (in case you're going for looks). The air filter, PCV valve, plugs, wires, rotor cap and distributor cap are new. The delay wipers work and so does the windshield washer. The wiper blades are new Rain X blades. The interior lights go on when you open the door and off when you close them. The door locks work. The map light works. The cab heater works great. The defroster works great too. In the summer, the AC is COLD. The windows both roll up and down and the vent windows work. The rear window opens in the middle which is really nice when the weather's good. As is, it is ready to drive and plow. It doesn't smoke or knock at all. It doesn't burn or leak any oil. I never had to add oil between changes until the pan needed work. If you're going to pick up the truck and drive a long way, I suggest you detach the plow and put it in the bed to travel. All 4 shock absorbers are new, so this truck rides like it should. It has a receiver hole for a tow hitch in the rear bumper. You can buy a hitch-ball for it at almost any auto parts store and tow a light trailer with it. A landscape trailer will need a heavier tow hitch so I don't suggest using the bumper hitch for that. This truck is strong and has a lot of guts. It also has a good spare tire with the original tools. Here's a couple things you might want to do if you're gonna use it as your daily driver: It could use a radio, and a new cigarette lighter for power accessories. Also, the last owner took out the carpet to check out the floor pans but left it with just the rubber covering on the floors. There's no headliner. However, the missing carpet and headliner didn't bother me cause the heat's so warm in winter and AC is so cool in the summer, didn't think much about it. So again, no rust or holes in the floors, just sheet metal and red paint with no draft. The doors are pretty solid too, although there's a little rust in the drivers' side door at the bottom. The muffler and tail pipe are holding up but could use some muffler patch. I left it the way it is cause I like the throaty growl of it. The reverse lights don't come on in reverse and I never checked to find out why. I was going to install reverse utility lights to plow with, but that was one thing I didn't get to. I'm going to miss this truck. Damn economy. No warranty implied or otherwise. Sold as-is where-is. It has a current NJ inspection sticker which is good till October. On Feb-11-11 at 19:34:58 PST, seller added the following information: A diagnostic check yesterday showed the alternator starting to give-out today so I replaced it. See pic. Also, pics of body mounts were requested. I took the driver's side cause I didn't want to lay down in a puddle on the passenger's side! Thanks for looking.
