Vehicle Detail
This is a 1974 CR 125 Elsinore project bike (confirmed by the Vin # stamped on the frame)that I will never get to. I don't know a whole lot of history on the bike but I will try to be as detailed as possible. I took quite a few pictures and tried to capture every angle so if there is something else you would like to see please let me know. I tried to price it as low as possible keeping in mind that the new owner still has to put more money and time into finishing the project. These bikes are getting hard to find in any condition and I think this one is a decent foundation for a project bike. some key information I can share after going over the bike. Frame: Someone put allot of time into the frame. It appears to have been sandblasted and either powder coated or painted. They did a nice job because the finish is smooth like glass not the typical orange peel finish I normally come across. I can't see any crushed tubes or damage/repair to the frame anywhere. (see close up pictures). It also still has the kickstand mount! Rims: seem to be straight and I can’t detect any cracks Hubs: have been bead blasted to bare metal Engine: Does not currently run. It has been bead blasted - there is a small crack in the clutch cover at one of the front screw mounts(see close up picture)- serial number area on engine was broken off from a thrown chain(very common with 70’s CR 125’s) but the intial remaining numbers show it is a 74 motor. Engine seems to have good compression and moves freely. It appears it may have been rebuilt but I can’t confirm this. I can’t see spark but it may only be that the points need cleaning from being in storage for quite some time. Carb: Not sure that this is the correct carb but it does seem to fit into the manifold. Air filter base & Air box boot : missing (these pop up on ebay all the time) Side panels and fenders I am pretty sure are the originals although the previous owner did a crappy job painting them. Tank is original and has been sealed inside. There are one or 2 small dings but overall the tank looks pretty good for being over 35 yrs old. Front tire is new Back tire is not but is in decent condition Missing the front Oval plate Rear shocks appear to be the original ones Fork chrome shafts do have some minor pitting in the travel area but its not major. Chain guide is not stock but it is a desired aftermarket chain guide from that era. Seat base is not the original one. Seems to be some sort of aftermarket seat base but it looks new. Pipe is the original one and as you can see its pretty banged up. However, there are a few services out there that repair these pipes (I have the contact #'s)and they come out pretty nice. Silencer is missing but they also pop up on Ebay. All in all this could make a nice little race bike or even a restoration project for someone who has the talent. The last restored 1974 CR 125 on ebay sold for 4,600 dollars so money you would spend on parts and your labor to complete this project would be a good investment.( I saved the listing if you would like me to email it to you) Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have. Shipping: Both the arrangements and cost of shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I do have some very affordable shippers that I can refer to you. Typically coast to coast is approximately 350.00. I have no problem holding the bike for 4-6 weeks until you make your shipping arrangements. No Warrany: This is a vintage bike and it is being sold without a warranty. Payment: There is a 100.00 deposit due at the time of purchase. Balance must be paid in cash(if you pick up locally) , Bank of America cashiers check or United states postal service Cashiers check. (If you would like to pay the balance by Paypal and are willing to pay the 3% fee I would accept that - If you wish to do it this way please let me know in advance) Thanks
