Vehicle Detail

I acquired this from a friend about 3 years ago. As you can see, the bike is in very solid condition and is 85% complete. All the important parts are there, leaving very minor parts to finish, i.e. levers, cables etc. Although a non-matching numbers bike, it does have the very desirable and period-correct TR5 close finned aluminum head and barrel motor in it. I have gone through the motor and left the top end loose for inspection: the bottom end is in fantastic condition, the con rods are tight, and the crank shaft is smooth without any signs of end play. As you can see from the pictures, the timing side of the motor is in immaculate condition, and pictures of the cam also show there is absolutely no wear; they are like new. The cam followers have been re-phased and the cylinder has been honed and a brand new pair of Hepalite standard size pistons installed. The head and barrel are in excellent condition, with no fin damage of any kind. The head is in need of completion – it needs valve guides and valves, a simple restoration with readily available parts. The rocker boxes are in fantastic condition with no damage whatsoever. The magneto does provide a good spark when tested. The primary sprockets and drive are all in fantastic condition, as is the clutch, which I have disassembled and inspected. The condition of the clutch is often a good sign of how the bike was ridden and used, and this one is the best I've ever seen with no signs of wear on the clutch drum, hub, or plates. This bike was ridden with great care, and all the parts seem to be original. The transmission has not been disassembled, but there are no signs of end-play or main shaft play, and a visual inspection of the outside indicates that the transmission has been rebuilt. The wheels both seem to spin freely, and are running on the original Dunlop rims. The gas tank is in exceptionally immaculate condition on the top side and underneath, for all intents and purposes it looks as if it’s brand new. The oil tank is the larger Tiger 100 version, with the winged oil cap, also free of any dents, scores or damage. The frame is in fantastic condition, straight and free of dents. The bike is in exceptional condition and a perfect candidate for restoration. With these bikes fetching upwards of $17,000 at auction recently, it makes this project financially very viable for a Winter project. Sold on a bill of sale. I am more than happy to assist with arrangements for shipping domestically or worldwide, with rates of $600 anywhere in the4 US and $800 to the west coast of Europe.
