This is a 1997 Ford Expedition 4WD purchased new by the City of Milford Police Department. It was used as a patrol vehicle for a short time and then utilized by the Department's Administration. about 4 years ago it was taken out of regular service and designated as a "Snow Vehicle" which means it was used very little for routine purposes. Earlier this year, a patrol officer lost control on an icy road and struck a pole causing the damage to the RR quarter panel. The estimate to repair the vehicle was approximately $3300 and the decision was made to permanently retire it rather than repair it. This decision was made due to cost, the year of the vehicle, and the mileage on the vehicle. It has nothing to do with the driveability of the vehicle. The vehicle, except for the RR quarter panel is in good condition with no rust through spots. Paint is shiny but there are dents, dings and scratches as would be expected of a vehicle used in police service. (Not to mention the large dent in the RR fender). The interior is in good shape. There are holes drilled in the dash and floor which were required for equipment installation. The floor mat is in good shape, the center console could probably be repaired, but is in rough shape. Drivers seat cover shows wear, all other seats appear fine. The vehicle, starts and runs fine. It drives and shifts fine. It shifts into Auto 4WD, 4WD-High and 4WD-Low fine. The 4WD appears to be working. About 2 years ago major repairs were made to drive train due to a severe leak. Since the repair (completed by AAMCO Transmissions), the vehicle has had no issues. There is no warranty with this vehicle neither express nor implied. Winning bidder is responsible for all costs associated with shipment and/or pick up of this vehicle. It is available for inspection at 400 NE Front Street, Milford DE, Mon-Fri from 0800-1600 hrs. Vehicle is inspected through December of 2012, although due to the accident, the RR Tail Light is not secured to the vehicle. Vehicle is good for parts or to repair and drive. The City of Milford does not accept Credit Cards, Does Not Offer Financing, and Will Not Stop the auction early to sell privately.
