1958 Dodge D100 Short Bed/ Step Side Classic Autoworx is pleased to offer this rare and beautiful pickup- 1958 Dodge D100 short bed/ step side. This vehicle was partially restored and has been driven regularly since. When it comes to clean, driveable classic trucks, they don’t come much cleaner than this! This truck has a lot of eye appeal and its ready for weekend cruising! Here is your chance to own a really cool cruise night attention getter! We have done an extensive internet search and we have not been able to find another ’58 Dodge D100 step side/ short bed like this out there. I could go on and on about how beautiful this truck is and how it’s so old school… but just have a look for yourself! EXTERIOR BODY/ PAINT: The paint and body on this Dodge is very acceptable given the trucks age and the fact that these trucks were generally used and abused. This truck is considerably straight and shows very well given the fact that it has never had a major restoration. Done in bright red, the original color is unknown however there is evidence that the truck was one time blue. The paint job appears to have been done professionally and overall it looks great, as you can see in the pictures. The bed slats are in good condition, a couple of the boards are split at the end, but they hold a 220 lb guy standing in the back just fine. Be prepared to be the center of attention at your local cruise, car show or just at the stop light in this eye popping pickup! There just isn’t another one like this out there! INTERIOR: The interior of the truck is clean and it has been redone in the past. The seat has been restuffed and recovered and is in great shape, though a bit faded. The rubber floor mat is original as is the steering wheel (horn works), foot pedal pads and gauge cluster. An aftermarket speedometer has been added and it is accurate. The fuel gauge works properly and is accurate. The temperature gauges also works properly as does the volt gauge. The turn signals work, the lights work and the truck features a custom red “3” cue ball shifter. A new drivers side window was recently installed, the original was cracked. Windows roll up and down properly and doors open and close easily. It even has the original cigar lighter. Engine/Transmission/Differential: Powered by the mighty 230ci flathead 6cyl engine and 4spd transmission, this truck retains it’s original drivetrain. The 230ci flathead is a work horse of an engine. Not much on horsepower, but it provided gobs of torque for it’s time. It is quite economical with a 1v carburetor and it drives wonderfully. The engine was recently tuned up and detailed and I’ve driven it at least 100 miles in the last week all over Phoenix. It’s reliable and it’s definitely a unique driving experience reminiscent of the days when this truck was created. 55mph is it’s top speed due to gearing. The transmission is a 4spd with granny first gear. It’s easier to take off out of 2nd gear but in 1st, it’ll pull a house down. This is definitely a cruiser vehicle not fit for today’s freeway speeds in it’s current configuration. It was never intended to go 70mph. The rear differential is in proper working condition. Should provide years of enjoyment with continued proper care and service! Brakes, Steering, Suspension and Structure The brakes on the truck have been recently rebuilt and adjusted, including brake lines replaced. The steering on the truck is tight, like new. The kingpins were recently replaced and it has new KYB Gas shocks. The suspension was recently lowered by Razor’s Hot Rods and Custom’s out of Phoenix, AZ and they performed numerous other repairs and upgrades to the truck. The frame on the truck and all major components and exterior sheet metal is solid. Rust has been found at the base of the cab at the rear, not seen from the outside. There are also a couple of pin holes in the floor pans. This truck has not received a restoration, however it is very nice and should be considered a very nice driver as is. This vehicle is truly special. If you are interested in this truck, I urge you to do an internet search to try and find another ’58 Dodge D100 like this one. We did and found that this truck is very unique and rare. It is certainly different and as such, has garnered it’s fair share of attention. We unveiled it at a local car show yesterday and it was a great way to advertise our business. Lots of attention, many questions and lots of compliments. Bid appropriately as the likelihood that another one of these trucks in this condition will be coming up for sale again soon, is unlikely! Let me state this as a disclaimer: This is not a rotisserie built, nut and bolt, frame off or body off restored show vehicle. This Dodge has had a lot of time and money invested and had a lot of clean up and detail work done, but it’s not a nut and bolt restored 100pt show vehicle. It does go for drives on nice days.
