Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is an LM1 1978 Firebird Formula. It is mostly original, exept the paint, and the engine. The 350 that is in it is out of a 81 Chevy pickup, and is a 4 bolt main block. It runs and drives very nice. The car handles about as well as a 1978 Firebird could. The LM1 version from what I understand was ordered with a chevy 350.I dont know why Pontiac did that, but it is what it is.The engine has only 30,000 miles on it,and the tranny I beleive is the original. As stated before, the car runs great. The power windows still work, and all the gauges work, except the temp gauge.(Dont know why). The tires are fair, and will last I am sure at least another year, depending on how many miles you put on it.The body is straight as can be,with no rust what so ever. However, when I removed the carpet,I found a small amount of rust in the passenger front corner of the floor. It was not rusted through, and I ground it out, treated it with osfo rust treatment and then fiberglassed it.I would think it would last for many more years without any repairs needed. The car has spent its whole life in Tucson, and the orginal yellow paint was faded badly. It had a couple of small door dings in it,that I fixed, and then I painted it Candy apple red pearl metalic. The seats were in very good shape, except the drivers seat were it was worn and had a couple of tears in it.I put some matching front and back seat covers on them, and it looks pretty good. The door panels and console were originally tan,and I painted them black with Finish One interior paint.I decided not to paint the dash black as well, but really could use it,as well as a new steering wheel.I have the original build sheet, and took a pic of it.My camera is not the best, but you can read most of the options that came with the car. This bird is not perfect, but it is one nice looking, and running car.I put a lot of work in this car as you can see,but I am not looking to send one of my kids through college on the sale of it.I put on a relatively low reserve, and anyone looking to own one of these cars I think would be proud to drive this one.Thanx, and good luck.If you have any questions, please feel free to call and ask.Thanx.Steve.928-242-1849
