I am selling my beloved 1973 Datsun 240z. I have owned this car for 4 years and this its story. I was bidding on several Z cars on ebay and on this car I was the high bidder by only $50 with 16 hours left. The pics were terrible and it was difficult to see what kind of condition the car was in but I figured with 16 hours and only 50 that I would be outbid. I went out and my life went on until I checked my emails 1 day later and found out that I had won this car! I was a little nervous so I reached out to the seller and it was someone who made me even more nervous as he wasn't the owner and that he was selling it for someone else. So I urged him to connect me to the owner and when he finally did it was an elderly woman. She informed me that she was selling the car due to the loss of her husband and continued to tell me stories of the car. When she said she drove it through the gas crunch I inquired as to how long she owned it and she responded, since 1973! With some more questions I found out that she bought it from the original owner who was a porsche enthusiast and how he scoffed at the car and said, it's no porsche. So she bought it from him with 3000 miles on the car. I even have the original owners card somewhere with his name on it. So her story was that she had the car restored sometime in the late 80s with new floor pans put in and repainted. After that she said the car was a trailer queen and didn't get used as much as she used to. When I bought the car it had been sitting for some 10 years!I finally got it and spent about 1 year detailing the car, replacing the radiator, gas tank, exhaust system, wires, plugs, carpet, seat covers, fuel lines, and whatever came my way. I installed a/c brand new components and charged the system with r12 this summer. I installed speakers and a stereo but without affecting any of the original body(speakers installed in the compartments behind the seats and the doors will come with the car if you want to remove the speakers) and the stereo in the glove compartment. I lowered the car by cutting the springs but whoever buys the car will recieve a replacement set of sport springs with newer inserts for the struts as I have another z car that this came from. The wheels are xxr rota replicas but they look great and the tires are 90% new. This car doesn't get driven enough but could be a daily driver if whoever buys it chooses for it to be. I just hope that it gets a garage as I keep it garaged and covered. However it does have some sun damage on the carpet but that's an easy replacement. This car is in no way perfect and I don't believe there to be any perfect car however this is an amazing car for the year and I've driven this car over 500 miles in two days before with the a/c cranked in the middle of the summer in Florida with no problems at all. This is not a trailer queen as I drive it and use it but I just don't use it enough to keep it and must let it go.
