Car is located in Petaluma, California where most of American Graffiti was filmed. This classic VW Beetle is for sale for the first time since new and offered only on e-bay. History of this car is that the original owner purchased it new and drove it until his death in 1982 when the car and his house were given as inheritance to a close friend. This friend did not drive and the car has been in the garage of that house ever since. This person is now very old and in now in the care of The County Office of the Public Guardian. Her property is being liquidated to pay for her care at a local rest home. The car had not seen daylight until two months ago! I have supporting documentation on the above for reference. The Car: White with very rare Red interior and the Autostick automatic transmission. It is in good to very good condition. A new fuel tank and fuel pump were installed prior to car being started, car starts right up and runs very well for sitting for such a long time. It will need a tune up, oil change and possibly the carburetor rebuilt. No smoke from exhaust can be seen when started or when running and there are no unusual noises from the engine. The car has been driven locally for a few miles, but due to it needing tires, the ones on the car are rotted, and wheel cylinders, they are leaking, the car has not been driven on the freeway or at higher speeds. Transmission goes right into gear and appears to shift smoothly. The interior is in good condition, the only issue that I can see is a small cut in the passenger side seat bottom (can be seen in pictures, go to link below to view over 60 pictures and video of running car), headliner and door panels are in good shape. Seats have some discoloration in them. Overall interior is very good driver condition. Body is in very good condition, the left rear fender has some damage to it which is an easy fix. Paint looks to be original. There is some minor surface rust on the left rear corner of the front hood opening, (as seen in pictures). The windshield has a rock chip in the lower middle of it. There appears to be NO rust in the floor pans or under body. Miles on odometer show to be 75793 and I believe to be original due to only being driven for 12-13 years. I cannot verify this, so please bid accordingly. Title could not be found in the estate, so car is being sold with a lost title form from the state of California signed by The County Office of the Public Guardian, a bill of sale, and release of liability.
