Why we chose this 2005 Mini Cooper S: The short answer; this was a chance for us to finally get behind the wheel of one of these bad boys. Of course, it didn't hurt that this supercharged go-kart was driven just over 10,000 miles a year since new - far below the industry norm of 15,000. I could tell you about the original paint (that looks awesome) or the interior (spectacular) or how everything works as it should but that's not why we bought this car. The senses are stimulated each time you experience this BMW inspired bullet from Great Britain. As you approach, the iconic shape confirms your good taste and is completely hip. Inside, you're greeted with chrome, leather, simulated metal and a thick, satisfying 3-spoke steering wheel. Even the switch gear is fashioned to entertain and the shift knob, a chrome, leather and clear cue-ball, is another treat for the touch. Twist the key and you'll immediately conclude that this is how a high performance 4-cylinder should sound and when you spin it up through the gears, the barely audible supercharger whine never lets you forget; this is very special Mini. Viva Las Vegas Automotive Boot Camp for fast cars: Our 130 point inspection revealed about what you'd expect from a one-owner local car. No accident history, fluids all okay and everything works as it should. There's a couple of touched-up chips on the driver's side, each about the size of an eraser head, the brake pad warning light was on (fixed with new pads/sensors) and it needed tires. (replaced as well) We also went ahead and replaced the missing underbody cover under the engine/transaxle, although it probably would have went unnoticed. What we did notice is that this Mini is one quick ride.
