Vehicle Detail
This is a matching numbers true 1972 olds 442 with big block 455 and factory air. The car is red with black vinyl top and black interior. This color combination 442 was the centerfold in the original 1972 olds sales brochure. The car has automatic transmission with unique His/Her duel gate shifter option. This car has been in my hometown since it was purchased new. I have no documents to prove this but I researched the car very thoroughly before I bought the car 4 yrs ago. I am the 3rd owner of the car. The engine was rebuilt at a local garage and the car was repainted, had new vinyl top installed and interior redone by the previous owner -all aprox 5 years ago. I bought the car to finish restoring after checking VIN # and engine number stamps to confirm that the car is a true matching numbers big block 455 factory air 442. Here is a list of most of the things I have done to finish restoring the car: 1) had engine detailed and freshly painted 2) restored entire breather assembly 3) replaced rear bumper which was beginning to pit 4) restored with new power steering pump and hoses 5) replaced headers with original correctly stamped exhaust manifolds 6) replaced mufflers and pipes and exhaust tips 7) completely restored entire a/c system with all new parts that are correct for the car 8) had transmission checked/serviced 9) had front end aligned and brakes checked and shoes replaced 10) Replaced clutch on fan and thermostat 11) had radiator checked and flushed 12) replaced floor pans. Overall, this car looks, runs and drives great--handles well and brakes well. Oil pressure is good and car runs at cool temperature even with a/c running. A/C blows cold air and all lights and guages work correctly including original radio. If have any questions about the car or need any other pics let me know. I also have aprox a 5 MINUTE VIDEO of the car running and being driven that I can send a link to photobucket where the VIDEO can quickly and easily be viewed if interested. Also, I have paperwork and receipts for all of the restoration that I have done to the car along with an original 1972 oldsmobile sales brochure and owners manual. Original matching numbers Big block muscle cars with factory air are getting hard to find; especially ones that are reasonably priced.
