Up for Auction: Our 1989 Chevy Caprice Classic Brougham 4-door Sedan. She's been a good old girl, but the time has come for us to part. There are over 228,000 miles on her, but don't let that throw you. She's just getting broken in! We live in Iowa where there is a ton of salt on the highways every winter, but there is so little rust on the body that it doesn't even bear mentioning. On the left rear panel, there is a small patch right next to the bumper. I would say that it is only about 2" by 3/4" and is almost hidden by the bumper. On the rear lip of the trunk there is a small, almost perfectly round dent about the diameter of a ball peen hammer head. It's not very deep and has been there since we bought the car. (I've alway wondered what caused the dent.) Other than that, there is no damage. Can you believe it? Don't get me wrong--it's a 21-year-old car and looks like it. The trunk and hood have faded and crackled from the sun/heat, but the paint has never bubbled, peeled, flaked or come off anywhere. It's just faded with age. Oh, I forgot, we replaced the hub caps a couple of years ago, and I snapped a small chunk off one of them when I was replacing it, but I still have the piece and can try to glue it back on before you buy it. The burgundy vinyl roof is beautiful and is perfect. There isn't even one small flaw in it. The only problem is that it is a little sun faded, but when my husband shines it up with ArmorAll, it glistens in the sun and is absolutely beautiful! The old gentleman that we bought it from ordered it with everything heavy duty--i.e., heavy duty shocks, heavy duty cooling system. It's all completely electric. Both the driver and passenger seats have multi-function controls, including a toggle switch that works better that even a new car. Also, electric locks, trunk popper. It has a 305, V8 engine. We rebuilt the transmission about 4 years, and she works like a dream. If you want to check on that, call Edwards Topline Transmissions in Sioux City, Ia. We've never been stranded or even had problems starting it on the coldest days. Last year was the worst winter on record for our part of Iowa, and she popped off everyday. We've driven it several times to Colorado and have never had any trouble with the change of altitude or driving up the steep inclines. The A/C and heater are fabulous--so cold in the summer that you have to wear a sweater and so hot in the winter that you can't run the heater full blast for more that a few minutes. The cloth interior seats are Burgundy and almost feel like velvet/mohair. They are in almost perfect condition. There are absolutely no tears or stains or burns (it's never, ever been smoked in or carried any pets.) The only minor imperfection is on the driver's seat where the piping wire poked through, and so we removed the entire wire. But you really can't even tell the difference. Oh,and the carpet is also perfect everywhere but under the driver's side. It has the original floor mats, and all of them are perfect except where the driver's foot wore through both the floor mat and the carpet underneath, but the hole in the carpet is minimal and is covered up by the mat. Bridgestone tires. When you step on the gas, there is sometimes a ping that my husband says is probably a lifter sticking. It's not a problem, but we wanted to let you know about it. That's about all I can think of for now. We've loved this car for years, and now it's your turn. We wouldn't be selling her if we didn't need the money. You'll never regret the decision to buy. Take good care of her. Free local pickup is available if you happen to be in our neck of the woods, but we will work with you on delivering it. We can meet you halfway or find some other way to do it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us. Happy Bidding and Happy Driving! Rick and Debbi
