Vehicle Detail
1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 I have an antiquity company in the middle of Texas. We specialize in fine antiques and collectibles. Once in a while my customers turn in a classic automobile or motorcycle. This is one of those items: We received this Texas car about a month ago. Due to some personal reasons the owner parked the car in 2001 after spending a huge amount of money on the engine. I wanted to be sure that the engine and the transmission were as good as the owner stated. So I sent the car out to a professional mechanic and he brought the car back to life. The engine is absolutely fantastic. The car is fast, strong, and very loud. I believe it was modified for racing. These are the things the mechanic did to the car – we have receipts ($1400 in parts and labor): He removed the gas tank and sent it out for cleaning. He replaced the fuel pump and fuel hoses. He removed and overhauled the carburetor. He changed the oil and the filter. He replaced the battery. He put a new aluminum radiator and coolant. He replaced the brake master cylinder. This is what is good about the car: It has a clear Texas title. It has a fantastic engine and transmission. It has a new radiator, master cylinder, fuel pump, and tune up. It has a newly overhauled Holly 750 CFM. It has headers and 3” muffler and pipes. It has an aluminum high rise intake manifold. It has a Pontiac HEI electronic distributor. It has a high performance cam shaft. It has a high performance forged pistons. It has a performance torque converter. It has a racing gear shifter with lock out. It has a transmission shift kit. This is what is not so good about the car: It has some rust; please refer to the pictures for details. It has not been on the highway since 2001. I don’t know that much about these cars, but I don’t like the transmission shifter, in my opinion, it is difficult to operate. It needs a complete cosmetic restoration – inside and outside (interior and paint). All the inspections must be done before the auction closes. Please, please, please be sure that you have the money to purchase the car if you are bidding. Remember that this classic car is 42 years old. Please remember that things always look better in pictures. So you are more than welcome to come see it in person, and if you are not sure, please don’t bid. I’m into antiquities and I don’t know that much about trucks in detail. Please come and check it as I am expressing how I see the vehicle. Your bid is your contract. Please place bids only if you are serious about buying the item. If you are the winning bid, you are entering into a legal binding contract to purchase the item. We require a $300 non-refundable deposit immediately after the bidding closes, and the remaining balance within a week. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. All of this being said please take a look at the pictures and ask any questions you may have. Or come by and check it out in person before you bid. The car will be sold as is, with no warranty or guarantee. For pricing regarding classical automobiles you can refer to www.nadaguides.com We reserve the right to cancel any bid for excessive negative feedback. And I may also advertise it locally.
