Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1973 MG Midget. I bought this car in 2005 or thereabouts and have had a lot of work done to it and only put a total of 1,610 miles on it. After the purchase I had a new head put on it and new brake lines. In the past year I had both carburetors rebuilt, installed new battery, new thermostat, new axle limit straps, wheel cylinders, oil filter, fuel filter, temp gauge, master cylinder, and alternator. I’m certain there are probably a few things I am forgetting. The tires also have good tread on them. When I bought the car the top had a tear in the back, below the window. I had that professionally repaired. I also got an extra top, some sort of zipper cover with the car. It snaps on. I have never used it. I had planned on buying a new top – you can get them for about $300, but never got around to it. There is a company out there that also makes fiberglass tops for them. The car was painted before I got it. You can tell some body work was done in the rear quarter and on the nose of the hood where there is a small crack. There is currently some surface rust showing in a few spots. The interior of the vehicle is somewhat rough and could use some work. The seats don’t look that great (I have covers on them) and the carpet is in rough shape. When I had the mechanic do the other work he said some sort of steering boot (it is rubber) needed replaced up front. I have not done that. Since I have owned the car it has been kept inside a garage when not being driven. I drove it quite a bit the first few years and planned on doing more work to it but lost interest. I only drove it once this past summer and did not bother to get it inspected. The car is cold blooded, as I’m told all MG’S are, but once it warms up it runs good. All in all, it is a fun little car that just needs some additional TLC. It is drivable, although I would recommend trailering it in this weather. I have tried to be as honest as possible in describing the condition. I am not a mechanic and know little about vehicles, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask. $200 deposit required within 24 hours of auction close. Vehicle must be paid for, in cash, and picked up within 5 days of auction close.
