Vehicle Detail
1999 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with Street Appearance Package (badged as a Crown Victoria LX) 4.6L V8 with dual exhaust is quiet, heats up to normal operating temperature, and the transmission shifts through all gears without any problems. Overall, the car is very fast and dependable. It has no obvious rattles, creaks, or unusual noises. The car is not missing any pieces as is often the case with CVPI’s- even has the ashtray, ticket light, cigarette lighter, and owners manuals. We bought the car from a local dealer who purchased it directly from the Pa. Dept. of General Services with 153,000 miles. Before placing it for sale on his lot, he went over the car thoroughly, ensured that it was operating properly, and completed several repairs, including having the the car Pa. inspected and emission tested (expires 10/ 2011), replacing one oxygen sensor with a brand new one, changing the oil, repairing rust over the wheel wells (if you look closely, you can see a slight difference in paint color where the repairs were made), and installing four brand new Goodyear Eagle RS-A plus patrol tires (the tires have less than 1000 miles on them now). He reported that the car was a PSP supervisor's unit that was taken home every night and not idled along the highway like many of the cars. We have been told General Services continues to rotate patrol cars out every two to three years and cars assigned to one person (generally supervisors, managers, etc.) that are used primarily for transportation are now kept in the fleet until they reach 150,000 miles. While in the fleet, cars receive regular maintenance on the severe use schedule. Because this was a supervisor's take home unit, the exterior and interior are clean and look great. The exterior shows signs of government service use (light scratches, one or two door dings, and some minor surface rust and scaling on the underside), but nothing that interferes with its usability or reliability- it passed Pa. inspection and emissions without any problem. There are no "check engine" or warning lights on the dash. Everything works- the heat is hot, the A/C was ice cold at the end of summer, the radio and its display work well. The rear defroster, windshield wipers, interior/ dash lights, power trunk releases (2), and power windows/ locks all work. Has full size spare tire and jack in the large, clean trunk. The car needs nothing to be driven every day and we would not hesitate to drive it any distance. We are selling the car because we stumbled upon a “loss-leader” deal on a nearly new Camry Hybrid at our local Honda dealer and decided that its 34 mpg would be a better fit with our frequent long highway trips. The police interceptor is very cool and definitely made our commute to work easier and less stressful, but it is now an extra car that rarely gets used. Because of this, we decided to sell with no reserve and to the highest bidder. Since we are not a dealer, the car is for sale as-is. You are welcome to come to inspect and drive the police interceptor prior to bidding. We live approximately 12 miles north of Carlisle, Pa. You are also welcome to call with any questions. Our number is 717-623-6156. We are willing to meet the buyer or shipping company with the car anywhere in the greater Harrisburg, Pa. area. You are welcome to pick the car up in person and drive it home. Acceptable payment methods are cash at time of pickup or by wire transfer to our credit union if you are planning to have the vehicle shipped. On Jan-20-11 at 03:17:39 PST, seller added the following information: We have described the vehicle with as much detail as possible to ensure that the buyer will be satisfied with the car. While we are not a dealer, we have successfully sold vehicles on Ebay in the past (1971 Corvette big block convertible, 1973 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible, 1987 Shelby GLHS, and a 2008 Subaru Outback). In each case, the buyer was satisfied with the car and our description and we maintained our 100% feedback rating. We strive to be accurate in our description because we have personally been victim to the lengths that some sellers will go to in order to sell/ gain top dollar for a sub-par vehicle. We once drove 8 hours to purchase a 2002 Thunderbird, only to find that the seller had not only completely misrepresented the car, but the photos that he used must have been of some other car that did not have body damage on every panel and a dried/ cracked leather interior. In another case, we clicked "buy-it-now" on a "perfect" Audi Cabriolet with over 100 photos and drove all the way to New Jersey to pick it up. After we paid for the car, the seller produced photos of prior rear end damage that the car had sustained. Although repaired, this damage should have been disclosed as it reduced the value of the car.
