Vehicle Detail

1985 Chevrolet El Camino General InfoThis car has a classic cool to it and attracts a lot of attention when I drive it. Looks good and sounds even better.Engine is a 350, which must have come from another El Camino as I'm told this car originally came with a 305. The previous seller told me it was a 'new' engine, by that I expect he meant a less old engine. Anyway, the result is that it has plenty of power and runs great. Repairs and upgrades in last 6 months$2000+ AC fixed with all new AC parts Air filter and oil changeNew Tires - Tires replaced less than 1000 miles ago with BF Goodrich high performance tiresStarter replacedLight tune - cleaned carb and timing adjustedReceipts for all work done. Problems/DamageThe left driver window is not always flush. It will seal completely if the car is stationary but if you wind it up at anything above around 40mph it doesn't align perfectly. I think quite a common design flaw with many El Caminos (just check the forums). The RPM Tach doesn't work. Not much to say about this other than it doesn't work and I haven't got round to fixing it as I've never had cause to use it (its an automatic). I had some problems recently starting it (the grinding noise) but had the starter replaced and now it starts just fine. On a general note about starting, when it is very cold, it sometimes takes about half an inch of pedal to get it started and you have to let it warms up for about a minute i.e. its carburated engine, not fuel injected. Other infoIt has been re-sprayed (previous owner), but the paintjob has been done well. On Jan-17-11 at 14:27:42 PST, seller added the following information: Note: 17-Jan-11 - Started up the car today and the new starter sounded like it needed shimmed, but engine did start and fine when running. I don't have time to fix this at the moment, and won't before the auction ends.
