I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 3500 quad cab, dually long bed 12 VALVE Cummins turbo diesel with an automatic transmission. This truck was purchased with 240k and used seen we started our company in September 2009. It currently has 274k miles on it. Options are: Power Windows Power Locks Leather Seats Power Drivers Seat (doesn't work anymore) Factory AM/FM/CD (display doesn't light up and doesn't play cds) Overhead Compass and Temperature Read Out Known Problems: Drivers seat does not go back and forth OR up and down Leather is worn Leaks Oil Right rear door does not open Will need tires in the near future 4wd works but is making a poping noise, I dont know the extent of it The truck had a snow plow on it last year and the frame horns are cracked I just had the transmission rebuilt with new clutchs and a new torque converter but the converter only locks on occatuon. I was told it could be a "lock up syloinod" or a weak valve body, again, I dont know. I am not a mechanic. The abs light and the brake lights are on What I have replaced that I can remember: New rear brake shoes and hardware Sept 09 New front rotors and pads Sept 10 Left front wheel bearing Feb 10 Rebuilt transmission Dec 10 (appx 300 miles ago) New transmission cooler line Dec 10 Rebuilt starter Dec 10 Torque converter lock up switch installed Dec 10 Upgrades: Has nearly bald 285/75 16" tires with 2" spacers on rear The star screw is turned and blows black smoke on take off Has a stainless steel exhaust system (no muffler) with a chrome 8" tip (BEST SOUNDING TRUCK IN TOWN!) Has blue headlight bulbs and all of the dually clearence lights are LED lights and look good at night Vent guards and a AVS bug shield The truck is 13 years old and has 274k miles and was used by our company as a work truck. It has dings, dents and scratches. Right after I bought it, one of our workers backed the trailer around and kind of jackknifed the trailer into the bedside of the truck busting out the tail light. We replaced the tail light but the bedside and bumper is/are dented in and the left dually fender has a 10" long and 2" long rip below the molding. Not very obvious but it is noticable. I am trying to be as blunt and truthfully as I can be. This is an old (rare) work truck but with a little TLC could be made a nice truck. This truck has been all over hauling and it does very well with a trailer behind it. With it being winter, work is slow. I had to borrow money against it. If buyer is willing to meet me at the bank with the money, I can pay off the loan and sign title off and hand it to buyer.
