Up for bids is a California Black Plate 1969 Ranchero 500. I bought this to restore but have decided I may not have the time to complete it. It is the Fairlane 500 model. It has a 302 engine with a c4 auto transmission. It has factory AC, power front disc brakes, and power steering. The engine does run and the car drives, but the engine and car does need work. Timing cover gasket needs to be replaced because of a radiator fluid leak. It is a project car. The interior was taken out to start restoration on the floor, which is in good shape, just a few rust through spots. I have most of the interior parts except for a dash and headliner. Carpet was taken out and cleaned, but would probably want to replace anyway. Driver front fender is damaged, but I have a replacement fender that will come with the car. The tags were just renewed December 2010. Work completed includes: Radiator boil and repair New water pump New fuel pump New power steering pressure hoses Fuel tank clean out and reseal New fuel sending unit new rear shocks and leaf spring shackle bushings nice tires and rims My loss is your gain on this classic. I want to remind bidders and watchers that even though the car is drivable, I do consider it a project vehicle. The car and engine would need to have some work completed before I would consider it ready for daily driver status. The engine runs fairly smooth, but I think it needs some timing and carb work. I think there is a small exhaust leak that you can hear when accelerating. Car has good power, and shows no hesitation when driving. The transmission shifts smoothly, but does have a drip out the tail. A/C clutch looks like it was replaced, but I think the compressor needs some work. Heater and defrost work well. Most of the original interior is there, except for the door panels. They are from a 68. Interior does show 40+ years of age. No dash or headliner. Most weatherstripping needs to be replaced. I bought the car for restoration, and what was important was it's completeness and power option components. The body is in good shape except for the fender I mentioned.
