Vehicle Detail
This Model 964 runs strong, has great oil pressure and handles beautifully.
Its gauges and dials work properly. The one exception is the sensor for the convertible roof. It mistakenly lights a warning occasionally to indicate that the top is not locked down. However, if you turn the engine off and raise the top an inch or so and bring it back down to re-lock, the warning light will go off.
In recent years, that top has been replaced; the clutch has been replaced; the air conditioning system has been rebuilt (blows pretty cold for an air-cooled car); the brakes were re-done and the master cylinder replaced; the two rear Toyo Proxes tires have less than 1,000 miles and the front Toyos about 10,000 miles; and it has a new Interstate battery.
The original Blaupunkt radio/cassette player was replaced with an Alpine AM/FM/CD player and a Kenwood amplifier.
The typical Porsche oil leaks were repaired at 95,000 miles, but some have returned. I was told at the time of the earlier fixes that the type of leaks that require an expensive engine rebuild were not found on this car.
The lines on this car are straight and the gaps between the front and rear hoods and the doors are all correct. The rear bumper and tail lights were repaired in 1995 after a driver backed into the Porsche. A CARFAX report earlier this month -- which is available to the buyer -- found no evidence of structural or frame damage, airbag deployment, odometer rollback or accidents.
However, the paint is not perfect. It does have some stone chips on the front and hood and mirrors.
The interior is in good condition. The driver’s leather seat cover is showing wear, but there are no splits or tears.
The car has always lived in Texas and has always been garaged.
I have most of the service records for the full life of the car and will provide them to the buyer.
There is no warranty, implied or otherwise, and the buyer is responsible for picking up the car in East Texas or arranging shipping. I will work with shippers to pick up the car at my home.
I require a $1,000 deposit within 72 hours and final payment within 7 days. I accept payment through PayPal, certified check or wire transfer.
