Recently purchased a new LR3 for my wife and need to sell her old Discovery. This Discovery would be perfect for someone who is a Land Rover enthusiast that enjoys working on them or may want to use this as a donor vehicle for a current project. This vehicle started to have a coolant leak a few months ago which I have not had time to track down and repair. It appears to be coming from the rear of the engine, but I am not sure of the source. We have maintained the coolant level during this period however the temperature gauge has recently started to malfunction. Upon start-up the temperature gauge pegs to the top and then drops all the way down where it remains while the warning light stays illuminated. I don't know if the temperature sending unit went bad or if it is something else, but it needs attention. The engine starts and idles just fine, and the oil is clean. The check engine light is not illuminated, thus the temperature gauge issue may just be a problem with the sender. The balance of the vehicle is in good shape, all of the electronics work, the transmission is solid, and the body and interior are clean. My wife purchased the vehicle with 21,000 miles as the second Owner and has driven it for the past 5 years. Body panels are dent free and we have maintained the paint by waxing it a few times a year. The interior does not show signs of wear and the leather is conditioned at least once a year. The interior is in like new condition, no kids, no wear and tear. Non smoker.
