Vehicle Detail
1963 Vintage Volkswagen ANOTHER VINTAGE VOLKSWAGEN BY THE RESURRECTION PROJECT The biggest news from 1963 was the assassination of the US President Kennedy on November 22 which thrust Lyndon Johnson into the role of president and the murder two days later of Lee Harvey Oswald by nightclub owner Jack Ruby. In that same year in Wolfsburg Germany this little bug rolled off the assembly line in Gulf Blue paint as you can imagine with any car of its vintage it has been repainted in its life. In the last color change it was returned to the lovely blue hue that you see in the pictures, it was painted many years ago but still shows a nice luster for a car that has been daily driven for years. As we look around the car you will see that this vintage Volkswagen still retains its stock factory height. The one thing that we have found with most Volkswagens these days is that they have been lowered or the suspension modified. This car is one of the few that has not; in fact it still sports a 1200cc 40hp motor. This is refreshing that we still find them like this in unmolested condition 48 years after it was put into service. The two-tone rims sport a set of 165 15 tires which is that American standard for the 5.60x15's bias ply tires that would have originally come on the car from the factory. This 1963 VW beetle still has all its original sheet metal from Germany and as usual it has its normal share of dents and dings from many years of urban use, the most unusual being a dent/paint chip in the roof above the back window which you can see in the pictures attached. If we take a look on the inside we see this little beetle still has its original door panels, headliner and VW part numbered rubber mats that adorn the floor. I have replaced the proper carpet areas with a new salt and pepper kit from world famous TMI. The seats still wear their original seat covers, however after almost 50 years of use they do have some tears and rips, so we have put some covers over the originals for the time being, this way the next owner can decide if they like the original look or would like to have some new ones installed while still being able to enjoy this blast from the past. The first accessory that grabs your attention is a Volkswagen style metal roof rack; these great racks have always been super popular and were even sold as an accessory by the Volkswagen of America at dealerships in the 50's and 60's. With a simple turn of the key this little car comes to life and cruises down the road with its manual 4 speed transmission and stock drum brakes. As with many cars of this vintage it was upgraded to a 12 volt system and had an alternator installed instead of those pesky Volkswagen generators. Regardless if you’re looking for a fun Sunday driver or a daily driver this 1963 Volkswagen bug will fill the void. Please enjoy the photos we have provided below. Please Note Due to the current EBay policy that does not allow sellers to leave negative feedback, we as sellers have no warning signs about potential nonpaying bidders. Ebay requires zero accountability or consequences to those who bid, yet do not follow thru with their contractual obligation to pay. This policy is causing unusual amounts of ‘’Unpaid” Items. Sellers have been suffering in the way of lost wages, Ebay listing fees, and most importantly… the loss of legal and binding transactions. *Affective immediately for all auctions* We are requesting that within the last 24 hours of the auction end date or prior to that time frame, the top three bidders or any party who is planning on submitting a bid must make a verbal commitment to their dedication to pay within the terms specified. Regardless of your feed back or bid history if we do not hear from you we reserve the right to delete your bid and sell the vehicle to those who have met the terms of this agreement. This type of pre “auction end” contact will not only give us a chance to build a trusting relationship with you, but gives you the buyer, a more personal experience and better sense of our staff along with our mission to provide you with the highest standard of customer service that we give to each of our clients. We thank you for your understanding and we look forward to working with you and your passion for the vintage Volkswagen.
